2/ #COVIDVaccine Age 5-11 - V-Safe & VAERS
Data from both V-Safe (@CDCgov smart phone monitoring) & VAERS systems in the States here, looking at trends.
Majority white populations from V-Safe.
Data for Dose 1 & 2 presented.
3/ #COVIDVaccine Age 5-11 - V-Safe Reactions
Summary of health impact shows: ~1-2% needed some type of medical care post vaccination.
~50-60% had some injection site reaction (mostly pain) as expected for most shots.
4/ #COVIDVaccine Age 5-11 - V-Safe Summary
Summary below showed that the local and systemic reactions were reported at similar frequency as the trials.
Most symptoms were:
Mild-moderate
0-2 day post vaccine &
Transient in nature.
5/ #COVIDVaccine Age 5-11 - VAERS
Looking at > 7 Million doses, (~5.1 Million First Doses)
Median age 9.
3,233 reports submitted as of Dec 10th.
6/ #COVIDVaccine - Age 5-11 - VAERS
Also most cases were from non-Hispanic Whites, or unknown, not reported.
Highlighting this as this could be due to many reasons including access, understanding of systems in place for reporting etc.
7/ #COVIDVaccine - Age 5-11 - Adverse Events
The MOST common adverse events were "Incorrect dose administered", then no adverse event??? & "product preparation issue". 😟😟
Most common symptoms in serious VAERS reports were: Fever, vomiting & chest pain. (11 reports).
8/ #COVIDVaccine - Age 5-11 - Deaths
While these are still being investigated, here is some info about deaths that were submitted.
Both were female, 5 & 6 yo, with significant medical conditions such (Cerebral Palsy).
Cannot draw any conclusions from this, under review.
9/ #COVIDVaccine - Age 5-11 - Myocarditis
14 reports of myocarditis in VAERS,
8 reports met @CDCgov working case definition for myocarditis, (6 after dose 2).
Remember, this is early data & 8 cases/7 million vaccines given.
Too early to say causality vs background rate.
10/ #COVIDVaccine - Age 5-11 - What We Know
7.1 Million doses given (Does 1+2) Total.
Majority reports (97%) non serious.
Most common adverse events = vaccination errors & symptoms seen in clinical trials.
8 reports meeting Myocarditis with MILD clinical course.
