Movie/TV Series thoughts mostly in the form of very long threads. DC Comics fan. After #ZackSnyderJusticeLeague, here to #RestoretheSnyderVerse

It’s a new Monday, so time for a new entry to #BatmanvSuperman references to the DC world. Today is Part 3 of the Knightmare scene, which is about that Flash cameo and the reference to Crisis on Infinite Earths (CoIE). All the details in the 🧵 below! #RestoreTheSnyderVerse

I absolutely love this reference because as you dive deep into it you start seeing more similarities and differences with the story in CoIE and I think this one is also less talked about than references in BvS to Death of Superman, Injustice, or Dark Knight Returns.

So, let’s jump into and first look at the main reference which is Flash appearing briefly in front of Bruce Wayne both in #BatmanvSuperman and Crisis on Infinite Earths to warn him about future world dooms.

Interestingly, Flash appears to Batman twice in #CrisisonInfiniteEarths, the same number of times he supposed to appear in front of Bruce in the Snyderverse.

There are also small similarities in stories related to the role of Batman. In Crisis on Infinite Earths he’s putting different teams of superheroes and even supervillains together and alerting heroes of the threat incoming.

In the Snyderverse Batman after hearing Flash message also starts his own journey to form the Justice League in #ZackSnydersJusticeLeague also alerting everyone of impending doom.

However, there are also key differences in storylines. Batman’s role in CoIE is pretty minor especially in the second part of the story. In both #ZackSnydersJusticeLeague and the planned sequels, Batman is at the center of everything together with Superman.

There’s also a significant difference in terms of how the stories end for Bruce. In Crisis on Infinite Earths, the multiverse is merged, and one Bruce Wayne/Batman emerges from this Crisis.

In JL3 Bruce is hurt (and later dies) by Darkseid’s Omega beams to save Lois Lane. Interestingly, this ending resembles much more what happens to Batman in another crisis in DC comics, Final Crisis. #RestoreTheSnyderVerse

This once again is a nice transition to a final thought. I really love how Zack Snyder homages huge moments from DC comics history but always creating something new and unique. This is also very present in the references to Death of Superman and The Dark Knight Returns.

Bonus Track #1: Another important moment for Batman in CoIE is a speech he does to superheroes without superhuman powers. In #ZackSnydersJusticeLeague he also does quite the motivational speech before fighting Steppenwolf.

Bonus Track #2 – Part A: There is an interesting similarity in how things end in CoIE and the Snyderverse. Lex Luthor ends up destroying the Anti-Monitor in CoIE, by being a vessel to Darkseid.

Bonus Track #2 – Part B: In Justice League 3, Lex Luthor was supposed to come full circle from playing ally to Darkseid to being the one who finally destroys him (the threat to the Earth as the Anti-Monitor is in #CrisisonInfiniteEarths).

Bonus Track #3: In #CrisisonInfiniteEarths Batman pays a visit to Lex Luthor in jail, which resembles their scene in prison together in #BatmanvSuperman. #RestoreTheSnyderVerse
