Here's what you need to get it.🧵

1. Passive income
– At least €705 per month (I recommend at least €1K) for a single applicant (more if spouse & kids)
– Sources: rental income, dividends from an online business, investment income, pension income, or remote work.
– At least 6 months income history

2. Savings
– at least €705×12 (ideally €1K)
– must be in a Portuguese bank account when you apply for visa

3. Criminal record check
– no more than 3 months old
– ACRO police check is the correct one

4. 12 month rental contract in Portugal
– have this ready before applying
– must be registered with Portuguese tax authorities (landlord should do this)

5. Travel insurance
– for first 12 months in Portugal
– must cover the whole Schengen area
– must include emergency hospitalisation and repatriation

6. Portuguese NIF (tax number)
– needed to open the bank account
– you can apply via online providers
– necessary for everything in Portugal
– does not make you tax resident

7. Bank account in Portugal
– can open remotely via online provider
– or in person with proof of UK address
– Millennium or ActivoBank best for foreigners
