#Infighting between the #Taliban in Taluqan City, the capital of #Takhar Province reported today.
No confirmation/rejection of the news by the Taliban is available yet.
Video and Photos of the incident are unverified and copied from the open sources.
While some pro-Taliban SM accounts wrote that the clash in Taluqan was between the Taliban&ISKP (Daesh) loyalists, but trusted sources from the area told me otherwise.
A group of (model 2021) Uzbek Taliban, last week, attacked Takhar prison&released their friends (ex-militias)...
...the #Taliban were looking for those culprits. Today they found them and a clash erupted, that resulted in some casualties (from both sides, several killed&wounded).
Ex-governor of TB for #Takhar, Mawlawi Nuruddin, was the guarantor of the group which clashed with the TB today.
#Taliban spokesman:
"The General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) Special Forces conducted an operation against a Khawarij (#ISKP) funding, equiping& training cell in #Taloqan of #Takhar.
8 key members of Khawarij, incl. Younis #Uzbekistani, were killed."
The state-run @BakhtarNA specifically named the targeted group in Taluqan City as Daesh (ISKP).
Bakhtar news agency wrote that, in addition to the killing of 8 ISKP members, 3 other members of the group were arrested during the operation.
Younus, who was killed today, was an Uzbek from Khwaja Ghar District (not Uzbekistani)&he was a member of #IMU in the past.
He was currently operating under commander 'Sarkatib Mir Alam Khalid', supported by Mawlawi Nuruddin.
#Taliban usually label their enemies as #ISKP or #NRF.
In some instances, there is an operational level (not strategic level) cooperation or loose coalition, between the enemies of the Taliban including the ISKP, NRF & some other sleeper cells.
In March, #Taliban moved Mawlawi Nuruddin from Takhar to Kabul, to avoid future conflicts.
After victory of August 2021, majority of the key non-Pashton Taliban commanders were either #sidelined or moved from their power bases by the leadership, to avoid future conflicts.
There is a potential risk that the sidelined figures may join ISKP or NRF.
Some #Hazara Afghans complaining that their ethnic group is not represented in the IEA.
While #Mawlawi_Mahdi, the most senior Hazara #Taliban cmandr in AFG, is recently sidelined by the TB leadership, but he didn't announce his separation from the IEA yet.
