There is an animal rescue in #Vancouver that is refusing to adopt animals to trans people, and is planning to euthanize a cat rather than adopt to a trans woman who has been fostering him.
Willing to chat with media about this.
#yvr #animalrescue #catrescue
Folks, for those who are asking me to name and shame publicly immediately: my first priority is to prevent this ‘rescue’ (run by one person) from spite-killing this cat. Once I get the cat to safety, I can do more.
The trans woman who is fostering this cat is now also willing to talk to media about this situation.
Here is Muttaz, the cat who has been taken - FROM THE VET, where his foster took him because he was sick - by the ‘rescue’.
He has a family who loves him.
#GetMuttazHome
Updates/clarification:
- the rescue claims they won’t euthanize the cat *for illness*, but refuse to answer whether they will euthanize him *at all*
- they FINALLY used she/her for the foster in emails instead of ‘this person’, ‘the individual’, ‘they’ - but now won’t respond
Updates:
- The ‘rescue’ STILL will not tell us where Muttaz is or whether he is being treated for his FIP relapse.
- The foster is being harassed by anti-trans activists.
- We are now talking to media.
- DMs are open if you want the name of the rescue.
Update:
We have now tried to get someone with major expertise in FIP involved, to explain to the ‘rescue’ that Muttaz needs care (the care they denied him) or he will die.
Silence.
The rescue is Cat Therapy and Rescue Society.
As far as I know, they are letting Muttaz die.
Literally, it seems that the woman who runs CTRS has decided to let Muttaz die out of spite because she’s mad that the foster called her out on renovating her own house while claiming she didn’t have the resources to get cats lifesaving vet care.
Can you imagine?? Shameful.
BIG UPDATE:
Instead of responding to me or the foster by email about Muttaz, the rescue has made a Twitter account to argue with people.
Here’s my response to their tweet at me.
(I have all the receipts to back up everything here.)
Another update:
Instead of telling anyone whether Muttaz is alive and being treated for FIP, the rescue is spending its time being nasty to the foster and calling her a ‘scam artist’.
I can’t even make this up.
Meanwhile, we still don’t know if Muttaz is okay.
Update:
The ‘rescue’ that took Muttaz from a loving home and is, afaik, letting him die, STILL will not answer whether he is alive.
Seems CTRS (@Ctrsbc) is deliberately harming trans ppl & allies by withholding info.
But has time to send nasty emails. https://t.co/NyIxs2fkC0
UPDATE:
Still no word about Muttaz. But we’ve discovered that CTRS (@Ctrsbc) seems from the Google reviews to be implicated in other heartbreaking dead-cat situations, due to poor care: google.com/maps/reviews/d…
(They accuse it of being a ‘smear campaign’ too. Familiar.)
Oh, hey, look. BC “#catrescue” Cat Therapy and Rescue Society (@Ctrsbc) won’t tell us if they’ve killed Muttaz, but they have the time to like a bunch of #transphobic tweets, including one that accuses us of playing a ‘trans card’.
CTRS, your #transphobia is showing.
I’m sure these sponsors of @Ctrsbc wouldn’t want to be associated with a ‘rescue’ that exhibits transphobic and threatening behaviour towards a trans foster, and won’t confirm that it didn’t euthanize a cat rather than adopt that cat to a trans woman.
Here is a heartbreaking thread where Muttaz’ foster mom, of the only stable home he’s ever known, talks about him. She knows him so well.
@Ctrsbc ripped Muttaz from this loving home, and has likely killed him, rather than adopt to this trans woman.
UPDATE:
Cat Therapy and Rescue Society (@Ctrsbc) STILL will not answer anyone as to whether Muttaz is alive.
They have, however, found time to lie about the foster and continue to misgender her.
In fact, she took Muttaz to HER vet a few days before they stole him.
UPDATE:
Rather than helping cats, @Ctrsbc has been spending its time scrubbing negative Google reviews that mention its #transphobia.
While Muttaz dies.
Will you allow these #transphobic cat-killers to get away with it?

UPDATE:
The ‘rescue’, CTRS (Cat Therapy and Rescue Society), STILL will not tell us anything about Muttaz.
But we now know they took him to Apex Veterinary Clinic.
They hung up on her when she asked if he was alive.
Let’s see if they want to work with CTRS if we ALL ask.
WORST POSSIBLE UPDATE:
Thanks to someone who emailed the vet clinic, it is now confirmed that CTRS has KILLED Muttaz.
They killed this cat rather than allow us to treat his illness.
Rather than allow him to go home with his trans mom.
And lied about it, just to hurt her.
They killed Muttaz and didn’t allow his mom, the only one he’d ever known, to be with him at the end.
Because they wanted to hurt a trans woman.
And then they lied about it. To his mom, to me (who funded his treatment), and to all of you.
@Ctrsbc, who’s the scam artist now?
Cat Therapy and Rescue Society (@Ctrsbc) advertises on their website that they are a “100% no kill” rescue.
But they killed Muttaz when he got sick, as confirmed by the vet clinic, instead of letting his foster - a trans woman - treat his illness.

An email from CTRS on August 5, denying that they would euthanize Muttaz for FIP.
They lied about that. They lied about putting $ towards care for FIP cats. They lied about contacting the foster (though this is the ONE time they used her pronouns) and lied about neglect.
