Seems he was one of 3 directors for a Canadian mining company Constellation Mines until removed from the listing in 2019.
Not finding much on them, that seems suspicious...

Cox was also running a company where he cunsulted companies in making investments in order to get them tax credits for investing in disadvantaged areas of California.
Lots of laundering money between his for profit & nonprofit business enterprises.

Which makes me wonder if there is a separate larger investigation.
Can't find much on the company yet. But one of his partners in the company got in trouble in 2016 for violating mining rules in Canada & lost their claims.
The extractive industries are the root of the Swamp, and this case is gold mines no less...
