Over the past years, we have witnessed an unimaginable amount of human suffering in Ethiopia – affecting many different ethnic groups. The scale of the humanitarian crisis in the country is just immense; and the gravity of the situation often underestimated. 4/

For Ethiopia to start its healing and reconciliation process, it will be necessary that a neutral body sheds light on the terrible atrocities and crimes that have happened (and that are sadly happening). The work of the #ICHREE will be extremely important in this regard. 5/

The #EU is a union of values – including respect for human rights, humanitarian law and press freedom – and I think that under the courageous leadership of @JosepBorrellIF we have done our very best as #EU to defend these values in our relationship with #Ethiopia. 7/

I want to thank all my colleagues at @BelgiumAddis and at the political section of @EUin Ethiopia, in particular Luca Zampetti @zampelu, for the good collaboration and the great team spirit during the past years. 8/

I especially want to thank @JBorgstam for his principled leadership during his time as #EU Ambassador to #Ethiopia, especially at the outbreak of the #Tigraywar. As a political officer, it feels great to know that your Ambassador values your analysis and opinion. 9/

From the bottom of my heart, I want to wish well to Ethiopia and to all of its people. I hope that a positive way forward can be found very soon in order to the end ongoing conflicts and find a peaceful way of living together that works for all ethnic groups. END
