The Cuban Medical System is one of the best in the world.

Medical attention is free for any Cuban citizen.

In fact, Cuba has a Higher life expectancy than the United States.

This is my final year of Medical School in Havana, Cuba and this is what I’ve learned

1/ 🧵

Medical supplies such as medications, IV catheters, syringes and ventilators are extremely scarce in Cuba due to the U.S. Embargo.

The U.S. dominates the Medical Field all over the world.

It owns more than 50% of all medication & material patents in the world.

2/

Due to the fact that most of the worlds medical supplies are owned or patented by the U.S.

Cuba is unable to purchase from any 3rd party seller or company that has at least 10% U.S patent integrated in their supplies.

That is basically no one in the world!!

3/

Despite the U.S. Trade Embargo against Cuba, Cuba does not stop providing free medical care to its people.

During the Pandemic a team of Doctors came together to build their own ventilators for their #Covid-19 patients

As the U.S embargo limited Cuba from buying ventilators
4/

Now Cuba is in extreme need of your help.

The medical supply crisis has got dangerously complicated in Cuba.

Doctors from John Hopkins, Tuft, and cedar Sinai have come together to help Cuba during this crisis.

Cuba needs your help!

Dr. Alioth Fernandez Valle MD, MSc, Vice President of the Cuban Society of Anesthesiology and Reanimation asks for supply donations.

Please share this information to the world as Alioth writes a letter to the world. #MedTwitter #Cuba #CubaSalvaVidas #anesthesiology #mexico

Together we can !!!

Hey so these are the Nexiva
Closed IV catheter System-
Dual Port that I personally
bring from the United States.

I wish I had more 🥲

These are one of the best IV
catheters I've used, but
If you look closely it is made
in the U.S.
