*** New Report ***
We have sent this independent report to press, peers, think tanks, @victor_madrigal at @UN & @Commonswomequ. We encourage you to read & send to your own schools, MPs & local safeguarding boards. We warn you it’s a difficult read. #SafeguardingFail #PolicyFail
Quote for press is: Tanya Carter Spokeswoman for Safe Schools Alliance said “This alarming, but sadly unsurprising, research sets out how long-established child safeguarding principles are being effectively dismantled. This leaves all children at risk…
Adults, professionally charged with the protection of children, have failed in their duty to identify this and this abdication of responsibility has left generations of children at risk of harm. Children are being left to navigate a minefield of predatory behaviour online…
without either protection or guidance. Those who have allowed this to happen must be identified and held to account by the global community.” For further quotes or interview email info@safeschoolsallianceuk.org. The report is a long and harrowing read so here are key findings
On page 6 you can see the thinking that led @Warwickshire_CC promoting the now withdrawn ‘all about me’ program that encouraged young primary children to masturbate. This was reported in the press at the time coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-…
Page 11 details the concerning framing that has been found around the Age of Consent. This is similar to the ambiguity seen in other recent global documents such as such as ‘8 March principles’ icj2.wpenginepowered.com/wp-content/upl…
Page 12 details where the line has been crossed from giving children factual and helpful information about their own bodies to encouraging masturbation.
Page 13 shows the abdication of adult responsibilities & the expectation that children should protect themselves from abuse & demonstrates who loopholes have been created for predators.
Page 14 shows how @BrightonHoveCC undermined established #Safeguarding practice referencing the @WHO document. This undermine of safeguarding is not an isolated occurrence as demonstrated by @Policy_Exchange recent report policyexchange.org.uk/publication/as…
Page 26 deals further with the cavalier attitude towards Age of Consent from both @WHO & @UNESCO. Safe Schools Alliance believes we should be moving towards global standards of an Age of consent of 18 for both marriage & heterosexual & homosexual sex. Under 18’s are children.
Page 30 discusses ‘sexual rights of children’. It should be noted UK governments key safeguarding document ‘keeping children safe in education’ is very clear that adults who can’t differentiate between adults & children are a risk. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/upl…
Page 32 notes the clear push to override biological sex in law with ‘gender identity’. The implications of this for women, girls & those in need of protection for their sexual orientation are horrific.
Page 36 shows who ideology from @WHO & @UNESCO fed into the ‘Great relationships & sex education book’ from Hoyle & McGeeney & others. #SafeguardingFail #PolicyFail #CurriculumForWales #RSE #PSHEPeeps
McGeeney of course was involved in #CurriculumForWales a #Safeguarding nightmare that @WG_Education have yet to apologise for or extricate themselves from. @childcomwales
Following on from McGeeney being instrumental in provoking parents to attempts to sue @WG_Education @NSPCC thought she (& others) would be the ideal people to assist them in their own ongoing attempts to undermine effective #safeguarding https://t.co/HQHyOG4uGC
Page 45 and 46 deal with recommendations for government which we whole heartedly endorse. @WG_Education @10DowningStreet @UKParlEducation @UKParliament @educationgovuk @GillianKeegan
If you can’t read the whole report, read the charts from page 51 onwards, that set out why this is all so incredibly concerning, why this IS an attack on #safeguarding itself & potentially the age of consent.
If after reading all the charts at the back you STILL do not see the issues here, are STILL claiming this is ‘anti LGBT’ ‘anti #RSE’ ‘right wing’ or ‘pearl clutching’ you do not understand #safeguarding & you shouldn’t be working with children or on policy that affects them.
