THREAD:

Two Tory mayors & a deputy have been convicted for child sex offences inside of a year, but the Tories are neglecting the issue, so we're asking VERY POLITELY for a safeguarding inquiry and trying to be SUPER NICE about it.

Please join us, do.

3 Tory mayors have been convicted for child sex offences inside of a year!

Their names:

❌ Simon Thornton, Tory mayor of Godalming
2018

❌ David Boswell, Tory mayor of Pembroke
2018

❌ David Jackson, Tory deputy mayor of Horley
2018

Brief details about each case to follow:
Simon Thornton groomed a 13-year-old girl, raped her for 3 years, then went on to become Tory mayor of Godalming like it was nothing. We're expected to accept nothing is amiss when a man like this passes party candidate vetting procedures without a blip:

This @M_Star_Online article is a must-read for teachers, parents & school leaders. It explores the horrifying efforts to normalise & rebrand paedophilia in society today. #CSE #CSA #safeguarding bit.ly/2kztjhr
@PeterTatchell’s continuing attempts to influence Relationship & Sex Ed guidelines is alarming. Here, he is unable to recognise Child Sexual Exploitation. Instead, he seems to suggest that sex with adults is a rite of passage for gay children. #RSE #CSE

Safe Schools Alliance are also disgusted by the increasing number of accounts on @Twitter which belong to paedophiles who tweet about their sexual attraction to children. They unashamedly use acronyms such as MAP (minor attracted person) and AOA (age of attraction).

Interesting findings in this @CTPSR_Coventry research as well as moments for reflection. Despite coordinated campaigns to 'toxify' #Prevent (see pic) and concerns raised by some unions and human rights NGOs, there is not the opposition expected, but rather positive acceptance /1
👉🏽 82% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that the #Prevent Duty was about all forms of #extremism
👉🏽 "Scant evidence of expressed oppositions to the duty"
👉🏽 Rather than a "chilling effect" on classrooms, 41% said the Prevent duty had led to *more open* discussions /2
👉🏽 54.5% respondents agreed or strongly agreed that #Prevent duty is a "proportionate response to a clearly identified problem"
There were multiple comments that the duty 'helped to enhance student safety' and 'provided opportunities to reinvigorate work around citizenship' /3

Started to read some of these, and you start to realise the implications if society does not address the needs of 'invisible' groups, older men #awoc being one that requires urgent attention #endloneliness #transformageing #increasefun
What really resonates with me, & I'm not #awoc, although as a #carer I didn't have children, are the negative perceptions of older childless men. A recent experience when talk about @CM2MLtd was being interrogated for a good 20 mins of why a man wants to do this. It was all.1/3
about safeguarding & nothing to do with the needs of older men, so why did a man with #livedexperience get a grill? I can only think due to how some ppl view abusers men not live locally were view in a certain way? I carry my DBS with me, but why should I feel the need 2/3..

While all of this is going on, the Conservatives are covering up scandal after scandal in their own party. Not petty who-said-what faux-outrage scandals, but genuine scandals involving multiple child sex offences and documented convictions:

#safeguarding
Who specifically in the Tory party took the decision to promote David Jackson to deputy mayor when he was under investigation for historical child sex crimes and later keep him on as councillor and which of their Chairmen approved each move?

Why would any cabinet minister let alone a Foreign Sec (@Jeremy_Hunt) risk compromise/corruption by drawing a veil over events they attended with a convicted child sex offender who police noted took his victim to some events? Something is very wrong here.

The sensitive issue of how we support children at risk of #radicalisation is a thorny one. Few would disagree we should protect them from abuse and harm.

When a teacher attempts to #radicalise over 100 children to become a 'child army' of #terrorists, we must have challenging conversations and identify long-term solutions theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/m…
If schoolgirls can be #radicalised by #Islamist extremists and enticed to a conflict zone like #Syria, we must ask ourselves how do we #prevent it happening again, what tools do we have to #safeguard the most vulnerable? standard.co.uk/news/world/fam…
