You may have seen a video I published recently showing some driving that resulted in the driver being charged with two counts of dangerous driving. I posted the video after I had heard the the charges were dropped. It turns out that was wrong. In fact the driver (1/10)
... in this case is now going through the court process and I may be called to a trial at a later date. I actually got two cases mixed up. The reason this happened is very interesting...In February last year (2017) I reported an incident where I was very nearly rear ended.. 2/10
... By a driver overtaking an HGV that was driving behind me. I not only had my footage, but footage from the HGV. A few days later the same driver did a close pass on me. These two incidents were reported at the time. As is often the case I was not contacted by police... 3/10
... again after reporting it. I assumed it had been reported to the Procurator Fiscal at the time, as it should have been. In November 2017 I had my serious incident (2 separate incidents again) where the driver was charged with dangerous driving. About 2 weeks after... 4/10
... these incidents I had a phone call from the police. They gave me a Procurator Fiscal number for the 'two incidents' I had reported. I very reasonably assumed the this was for the November incidents. It wasn't. It turns out that this reference was for the incidents... 5/10
... that I reported back in February. 9 months before. It also turns out that it was in fact 9 months from the February incident when they had bothered to pass the case on to the Procurator Fiscal. Anyone who understands criminal cases will now know why the February.... 6/10

... take 9 month to pass the first set of incidents to the PF!? Why when they must have known, did they bother to pass them on to the PF when it was very obviously timed out!? So the issue is not the PF, but the police!! I'll get the video up when I get the chance... 9/10
and I'll be enquiring with the police what went wrong here. I totally understand the the police are under pressure. I know resources are limited. But that's several cases that have failed due to police mistakes. How often is this happening to others !?! 10/10

Whilst MPs in Scotland have little direct input in Scottish and council transport policy, they are inevitably influential figures in local politics. Thus I decided to find out what East Dunbartonshire's SNP candidate's opinion of extending #bearsway was. What follows is my ...

Question : I was wondering what your views are on Bearsway and possible future extension? I understand that if you were to become an MP this wouldn't really be under your remit, but as local MP you would have...

Response : Sorry for the delay in responding to your email.
Having discussed this issue with a lot of local residents both at the time and recently an extension of Bearsway at this time does not seem to be a ...

Oooh Twitter...... Oooooooo dear Twitter..... I might just have a wee update for you. Yup #hermesgate is back. There may be some of you who aren't aware of #hermesgate. So before the update, here's a wee summary.....
On the 28th of January I ordered a breadmaker on Amazon. Concerned about possible hard #brexit food shortage, and actually just wanting a breadmaker as we'd had one in the past, buying one seemed like a good idea. Amazon had a one day special price of £87 so I went for it.
The order went in as a one day delivery, but due to the timing of my order it was due to arrive on the 30th. Whilst I was terribly disappointed by this terrible situation, I consoled myself that by the 30th January I'd be up and baking. Yum yum....
Something that is often overlooked about riding a bike in a city, is that it opens your eyes. Your see things you never saw, or at least noticed, before. Early in 2005 I had only ever rode a bike as a kid. In my local area and the occasional longer canal path ride... 1/n

I knew nothing of the issues that... 2/n

Then I started cycling.
The problems I faced with poor drivers etc are well... 3/n
I'm often asked if I've reported an incident I've shared. The reality is I only rarely do go to the police. Unfortunately going to the police is not easy. First, you need to hope you get a sympathetic officer. Sometimes you do. Sometimes you get sneared at. Sometimes 1/n...
.... you get dismissed. Sometimes you have to argue with them that, yes driving a car 30cm from my arm at 40mph is dangerous. Then, when they do take it seriously, it takes time to do the statement and burn the videos to CD. Then you rarely hear from the police again 2/n...
Sometimes you do, but often you need to chase them. Then, sometimes the police make a mistake and don't fill a form out right, or don't send the case to the Procurator Fiscal on time. I've had a few cases dismissed because of that. Then the Procurator Fiscal take the case 3/n...
