It’s time, once again, to disabuse Donut Twitter & their “liberal” blue-checked friends of the notion that @DrJillStein cost @HillaryClinton the election.
Here’s what the map would look like if all @GovGaryJohnson’s votes were tallied for Trump & Stein’s for HRC.
And, to be more than fair, this map shows the states with @MalcolmNance’s votes factored in for Clinton in New Mexico, where he had a significant number of votes. Also, bear in mind, Stein was not on the ballot in Nevada.
When Center Twitter carries on about how Stein cost HRC the Electoral College vote, they always conveniently leave out the Libertarian Johnson who received three times the vote Stein did & whose policies are closer to the GOP’s political philosophies.
It’s simply not equatable to include Stein & not Johnson in a third party debate if your argument is that Hillary would have received all or most of Stein’s votes had Stein not been in the race.
But all this kvetching about Stein ignores two points: 1. More people - 1.7 million - got out to vote down ballot, but left the presidential spot blank than voted for Stein - 1.4 million. washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/w…
And 2. Most Americans simply did not vote. If Apathy was a candidate, he/she would’ve won in a landslide.
Some of the reasons for this certainly include the GOP’s efforts to disenfranchise voters, particularly POC & younger voters, but in 2016, dislike for both Trump & Clinton was at an all-time high, which kept voters away: fivethirtyeight.com/features/ameri…
Factor in Clinton’s refusal to campaign heavily - if at all - in Rust Belt states that have seen their good-paying jobs leave as a result of the very trade policies Clinton & her husband supported, & you get a depressed turn-out in the “firewall” states.
I can’t believe this data has to be repeated in 2018, nearly two years after the election, but given the Dems refusal to do an introspective autopsy on their loss, opting instead to blame a litany of external forces, many people are simply misinformed.
But, thankfully, for progressives, our candidates did look at the data & figured out that whole swaths of Americans feel unrepresented & don’t vote as a result, so they’ve decided to reach out to them.
This is how @Ocasio2018 won Tuesday: She reached out to these disenfranchised people & beat her powerful & entrenched Dem opponent by bringing first-time voters into the mix. A formula her mentor, @SenSanders, espouses. usatoday.com/story/news/pol…
In conclusion, @SenSchumer’s formula to attract two suburban GOP voters for every one lost progressive voter has been proven wrong several times now.
It’s time for Dems to pack Schumer’s idea up & start reaching out to average, independent Americans who want Single Payer, tax-funded college, an end to imperial wars & a solution to income inequality or go the way of the Dodo.
The demographics demand it.

So here’s my 2020 Electoral College prediction & my reasoning behind it.
The South & the Midwest (except for Chicago-heavy IL) will stay red. In NC, that state’s substantial Arab vote is demoralized by Iraq War Cheerleader Joe & their abstention will be just enough to keep it red. npr.org/2020/08/21/903…
TX & GA have the same issues with demoralized Latinos & young black voters. As Muhammad Ali once said, “The trouble with Atlanta is that it’s surrounded by Georgia.”
My interactions with neolibs on Twitter have taught me that they simply don’t know that Trump, who is an awful president, is simply using policies Biden helped codify into law to impose fascism on us. Let’s build a helpful list here. I’ll start:
1. The Crime Bill🚨 - Biden wrote this atrocity that is still being used to jail mostly black men for non-violent crimes while allowing cops to rule with a heavy hand.
2. The Student Loan Crisis 👩🎓👨🏻🎓 - While Trump is forgiving payments through the end of the year (re-election ploy), it was actually Biden’s work on the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 that made them virtually impossible to discharge.
Since I keep getting posts from Donut 🍩 Twitter regarding Bernie not voting for Russian sanctions, I thought I'd post a thread about why I simply don't care about his being absent for that vote or even voting against it when it was included with the Iranian sanctions.
First, the whole of #RussiaGate is suspect anyway. There's been no smoking gun or solid proof presented, as evidenced in this thread of all the #FakeNews articles that have had to be retracted or have been proven wrong:
In fact, the one thing we do know about #RussiaGate is that its origin began with the Clinton team as a deflection for Hillary's monumental loss to the Mango Mussolini. We know this from the book HRC camp insiders wrote called, "Shattered."
