ध्यायतो विषयान्पुंसः सङ्गस्तेषूपजायते ।
सङ्गात् संजायते कामः कामात्क्रोधोऽभिजायते ।।

dhyāyato viṣayānpuṃsaḥ saṅgasteṣūpajāyate ।
saṅgāt saṃjāyate kāmaḥ kāmātkrodho'bhijāyate ।।
क्रोधाद्भवति संमोहः संमोहात्स्मृतिविभ्रमः ।
स्मृतिभ्रंशाद् बुद्धिनाशो बुद्धिनाशात्प्रणश्यति ।।

krodhādbhavati saṃmohaḥ saṃmohātsmṛtivibhramaḥ ।
smṛtibhraṃśād buddhināśo buddhināśātpraṇaśyati ।।
विषयान् ध्यायत: - When mind wanders to external matters, पुंसः - jiva/person, तेषू - in those matters, सङ्ग: - association, उपजायते - will develop, सङ्गात् - Because of that association, कामः - the desire to enjoy, संजायते - will arise, कामात् - Because of kama,
क्रोध​: - the anger arising due to hurdles experienced in enjoying those kama-s,
अभिजायते - will spread
क्रोधात् - from that anger, संमोहः - the aviveka (or inability to distinguish good & bad), भवति - happens, संमोहात् - from that aviveka, स्मृतिविभ्रमः - The very thoughts of us undertaking the great feat of winning over our indriya-s to experience Atma gets destroyed,
स्मृतिभ्रंशाद् - Because of that destruction of thoughts, बुद्धिनाश: - our once fertile minds are destroyed, बुद्धिनाशात् - Because of mind’s destruction, प्र​णश्यति - he is himself destroyed (Or falls back to samsara)

Desire gives rise to Kama or the urge to experience things. That in turn generates Krodha (or anger) when hurdles are faced in experiencing it. Which in turn gives rise to Aviveka & so on..

It is to be noted that Atma cannot be destroyed. प्र​णश्यति denotes a relapse to Samsara
