How the 1974 in-camera proceedings in the parliament of #Pakistan were scripted.
Yahya Bakhtiar, the Attorney General (YB) who was cross-examining the Khalifatul Masih III of #Ahmadiyya Muslims had little interest in establishing the truth. Here is one example..
One of the main items on YB's agenda was to show that #Ahamdis had 'separatist tendencies'.
'They call everyone else Kafir'.. 'They don't pray behind other sects' etc etc.
YB was handed a reference by the questioning committee which was clearly tempered with by the clerics.
The text quoted by YB is from an address by the 2nd Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community from 1949.
YB is not aware of the context.
YB is asking the question with the intent to prejudice the house against the community.
The text has been manipulated to appear anti-Islam
As was his practice during the whole proceedings, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih III did not confirm or deny the veracity of the quote. He asked his team to make a note of it to be answered later.
It is a common practice of anti-Ahmadis to falsly attribute quotes or manipulate the text
The answer was given on the next day (20 July 74).
The quote was read in full.
The context: Khalifatul Masih II was discussing the psychology of anti-Islam propagandists (Christian missionaries, apologists, orientalists etc) who target the person of Holy Prophet of Islam.
And he is saying that Islam, by nature has the property of annihilating other religious ideologies if they try to compete with it on an intellectual level. Hence why they target the Holy founder of Islam.
What did YB do?
Did he accept that he may have been mistaken?
No.
Instead, YB carried on questioning on why such a speech was made in 1949.
When he was informed that polemic literature against Islam is full of blasphemies against the Holy Prophet, YB didn't even acknowledge that they existed. But what he said next was most revealing.
He let this slip.
It was his duty not to understand the Ahmadiyya view point.
He said
'Mirza Sahib, you may understand the subject clearly, but it is my duty that I am not understanding it correctly'

Harakiri is a form of Japanese ritual suicide by disembowelment. Nasty stuff!
The famous Attorney General of Pakistan, the Oxford educated liberal, ZAB's confidant, Yahya Bakhtiar made an interesting reference to this practice in the parliament.
It was the infamous in-camera session of Pakistan's national assembly,
Date 6th of Aug, 1974.
We are into the 2nd day of the cross-examination by Mr. Bakhtiar of Hazrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad, the supreme head of the #Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
An overview of clinical trials/case reports so far.
Note: Data is limited, based on small clinical trials, some case reports (meaning individual patients who were treated without a comparison with placebo or no treatment)
Chloroquine, a commonly used antimalarial drug may be
'superior to the control treatment in inhibiting the exacerbation of pneumonia, improving lung imaging findings, promoting a virus negative conversion, and shortening the disease course'
The Lancet reports an AI based search of the possible use of JAK inhibitors, commonly used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. JAKi's more specifically baricitinib are 'likely to be effective against the consequences of the elevated levels of cytokines observed in COVID-19..'
Just came across a paper by @mikati_rana on Mubahila. Historical accounts of mubahilla (prayer duels) and curses are abundant in the Islamic history. I am surprised to see that a Sufi lost a Mubahila to someone on the question that Ibne Arabi had gone astray.
Also ISIS leader has won a Mubahila challenge against a fellow terrrorist on calling the other a khawarij.
But these are anecdotal accounts.
Mubahila has been mentioned frequently to support of the truthfulness of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in Ahmadiyya literature
But the author treats this very contemporary issue with little research. The details are incorrect and conclusions ill-informed.
