Snippets from history(1871): Contrary to much popular narrative of EIC, India's sex ratio was much better than current national average(CNA). Ratio of female(12+) to male(12+) is much better than CNA. Female infoeticide was just another propaganda against 'heathen' savage hindoos
This is from census of 1871-72. Note the sex ratio above age 12& compare it with below 12. Sex ratio is too skewed in favour of males below 12. Meaning, something happened after 1860leading to skewed sex ratio coinciding with severe famines and uprisings.
3)more data from census(1872). Lowest sex ratio among Indians is that of Christians. So even if there was any community which practised 'imaginary' fem infanticide it was Xtian not Hindus/Muslims. Even Buddhists were better than them. 👆Hindu population in Burma was of migrants.

Ancient ruins of temples in Rishiyan, a place named so because of the belief that 84000 ऋषि used to live here. The place is important as ShriRam visited this this place on his way to Chitrakoot. I've also observed some spectacular hydrological enginnering seen rately. 1/n
Here this one is most extant temple devoid of any deity. Stylistically it is similar to temples of region. I believe there were 3 such shrines with common Mandapa(like Trikuta temples of Hoysala). See the fineness of craftsmanship unfortunately most of it was smuggled.
Note rock cut sculptures of Ganesha and serene environment in Monsoons. See the ruins of temples scattered over a wide area. 3/n

Thread on GunPowder
1)Finely crafted Cannon with tiger's head like opening, Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur (Rajasthan)
"India’s military technology is history’s greatest ‘hidden’ secret."
Until early 19th century CE, India alone had total monopoly over production of gunpowder. Image
2)"Unlike China, with an odd textual reference or a drawing or a singular artefact, was the entire industry in India – which remained unrivalled in the history of the world. Compared to China’s paltry production of gunpowder, India’s widespread and organized gunpowder production ImageImage
3)...system points towards indigenous development. [There are reports, that in “664 an Indian visitor to China reportedly demonstrated the peculiar flamability of saltpeter and provided instructions on how to locate it (Pacey 1990, 16)."]” ImageImageImage

Hanuman, Tamilnadu
Copper alloy, ~16th century CE
This is one of the best depiction of Hanuman, I've ever seen.
#HanumanJayanti
Ascetic's pectoral plaque with Hanuman as central figure
Note bell tied in tail. Seven hooded Naga flanked by peacocks form canopy over Hanuman. Outer ring is decorated with bead and reel pattern and lotus.
Very unique depiction indeed!

Interior wall at the grand palace, Thailand
Scene from "Ramakien" (Thai Ramayana): Hanuman enlarges his body to protect Rama's pavillon.

In SE Asian countries Hanuman is mostly depicted in his fierce and rather wrathful form.

1) Garuda ornaments from Palawan, Eastern Visayan, Phillipines
Dated:~10th century CE
Wherever European Christian culture went they tried to erase its history completely. Before the Discovery of Laguna copperplate inscription ancient Phillipines was generally assumed uncivilized.
2) Kinnari, gold, Surigao, Phillipines
Dated: ~10-13th century CE

Indian features are clearly visible.
3)But it was the discovery of a copperplate inscription from Laguna province which changed the ancient history of Phillipines. The inscription dated Saka 822(900 CE or even older if we consider revised date of commencement of Saka era that is 583BCE)

Just see the huge, finely cut pieces of stone used in this temple. Also note the pointed arch(lotus petal arch) niche at the centre of the rectangular temple(fourth image). There are thousands of such temples lying in ruins.
Central niche of Adina Masjid, Pandua
These mihrabs are nothing but niche(s) sans Vigraha as suggested by E. B. Havell.
1. Trefoil arch resting pillars with Kalasha base(such pillars are depicted in Shunga sculptures)

2. Trefoil arch with extant Shikhara of Kalinga type
Here is a Pala era Vigraha(sculpture) of Vishnu of most exquisite form.
Note the proportions of trefoil arch and columns. Exact same and why not, after all both are product of same tradition. It is a lie that Torana were only wooden gateways of Sanchi type.
