Not what I was hoping for but it looks like some more interesting breadcrumbs. More GRU hacking incidents & targets, many related to Olympic doping test facilities & the chemical weapons labs testing samples from UK & Syria. justice.gov/opa/documents-…
Of biggest interest to me is the hacking of Westinghouse Electric, nuclear fuel supplier to Ukraine & other countries. The prosecutors were unwilling to discuss anything not spelled out in the indictment, which means not much. Two main priorities seem likely for the Russians.
Westinghouse was expanding Ukrainian nuclear power capacity. So 1 priority could have been to keep Ukraine dependent on Russian oil & natural gas to allow the Russians to exert leverage over them. So disrupting that relationship or operation may have been a Russian focus.
The second likely priority could be related to the efforts of state controlled Rosatom to control & dominate the global nuclear fuel market. This lead to their efforts to by Uranium 1 to secure control of large Kazakhstan reserves of uranium secured with the help of Bill Clinton.
The GRU hacking effort was conducted around November 2014 through August 2016. The Ukrainian Crisis kicked into high gear in November of 2014 after a year or more of smoldering problems & a bogus election.
So that alignment of that timing may indicate that the hacking of Westinghouse was an effort to gain additional leverage over Ukraine as the protests & political situation started to make it clear that Ukraine might move out of Russia's orbit.
Russia's strategy until the crisis was similar to efforts in other nations. US. Brand the Putin opponents as Nazis & pretend that Putin's allies were the ones opposed to Putin. A common refrain in Russian disinformation claiming support for Putin's puppets is opposing Putin.
I did love the one line from early in the announcement today, the DOJ was trying to educate reporters so they quit falling for Putin propaganda & disinformation! Yeah, like they are smart enough to figure that out!
@jray_redfever asked about Hunter Biden's Ukrainian energy company. Burisma energy paid him $1 Mil a year to sit on the board. Prosecutor General Shokin was trying to prosecute the chairman. Then VP Biden blackmailed the Pres. of Ukraine w $1B in US aid to fire the prosecutor.
@jray_redfever But the connection to Westinghouse may be more direct. Seems VP Joe Biden has been pimping for Westinghouse since at least 2009. Pressuring foreign govts to contract w Westinghouse. radio.cz/en/section/new…
@jray_redfever VP Joe Biden even warned the Czechs to not contract with Russian providers instead of Westinghouse. That might certainly motivate the Russians to gain a little leverage over the Vice President. Of course Wikileaks released cables showing some of this info. ceskapozice.lidovky.cz/us-vp-biden-wa…
@jray_redfever Biden started pushing Westinghouse partnerships with Ukraine in the summer of 2009. SO if there are any questionable dealing explaining why Biden was pimping for Westinghouse, that would greatly interest the Russians. jamestown.org/program/ukrain…
@jray_redfever In 2013, Biden & then Westinghouse CEO Danny Roderick were the two featured speakers at the Export-Import Bank Annual Conference. Roderick was fired in March 2017 after WEC started to implode in Dec 2016 resulting in a bankruptcy. gettyimages.com/search/2/image…
@jray_redfever Roderick oversaw massive debts & was involved in questionable accounting practices to hide many of the problems. reuters.com/article/us-tos…
@jray_redfever But Toshiba did not fire Roderick as claimed, they removed him from the board of Westinghouse but promoted him to a position within Toshiba. Resulting in a mutiny of Westinghouse staff when they realized his contract allowed him to come back. post-gazette.com/business/power…
@jray_redfever Of course shortly before he was relieved of his chairman of the board position, he went on the attack about reports that the DOJ Western District of PA & the SEC were investigating the accounting fraud. So the same DOJ prosecutors office is involved. bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/blo…
@jray_redfever Roderick is also facing issues for selling a lemon to consumers in SC who will be paying $9B in over runs for a reactor he knew was flawed. postandcourier.com/opinion/editor…
@jray_redfever So many rabbit holes, so little time....
@jray_redfever One thing to remember with this case. Again we see a peak into some major corruption, but the case is starting from the ground up. In a district court well outside the Swamp of DC. The announcement buried in other cases & the dots aren't connected by the prosecutors in public.
@jray_redfever It would be like the Feds indicting Al Capone for tax evasion & pretending they never heard anything about him being a gangster. Western PA is (outside of Pittsburg/Allegheny County) is a very conservative area too. Blue collar, Trump voters.
@jray_redfever The perfect place to get a fair trial for Democrats involved in corruption. Corruption revealed by Russian efforts to blackmail those same politicians. When do we start referring to the friends of the Swamp politicians as American Oligarchs?

Breaking!
Neustar's access to government networks was worse than we thought!
And I thought they had everything!

It appears Neustar was subcontracted for EOP by Verisign, Inc. who had the federal contract to provide DNS services for ALL .gov websites!
#ButNothingsHappening
Verisign Inc. was providing DNS services for the entire .gov system under a contract with GSA.
The earliest contract that makes clear that they are managing the .gov domain for the federal government is in 2010 or 2011, but there are contracts earlier.
usaspending.gov/award/CONT_AWD…
Here is the contract from 2016 that was recently extended until June of 2022.
In 2014 when Neustar got access to do DNS services at the Executive Office of the President, Verisign was the contractor for all .gov domains. If Neustar was a subcontractor, it was for Verisign.

Durham's response to Sussmann's motion to strike Durham's notification of conflicts of interest hearing request by Durham.

courtlistener.com/docket/6039058…
Durham says they shared a very limited amount of factual detail to make the judge aware of the conflict.
How much more do they have?

Last week they said the law firm says Bosworth wasn't involved but they want the judge to ask him in person.
Durham then takes a shot at the fake news people on both the left & the right who have "overstated, understated, or misinterpreted facts" from his motion!

Hi Marcy!

The worlds Swampiest commodities firm Glencore warns investors it is setting aside $1.5 Billion to pay fines in the US, UK & Brazil over corruption!
Glencore was run for 40+ years by Marc Rich of Clinton Pardon infamy.
They're connected to Russiagate too
#ButNothingsHappening
Glencore connects to almost every Swamp on the planet, which is why Clinton had to pardon Marc Rich to sabotage decades of cases prior to 2001.
But they kept doing the same deals, including involvement in Chad.
These prosecutions stem from cases as far back as 2009, with various executives being flipped along the way.

As expected, Sussmann's attorney's filed their motion for dismissal today.
Focusing on the materiality of his lies to the FBI, it's not going to work but this is meant for public consumption not the judge.
Let's see if he forces Durham to reveal more!
courtlistener.com/docket/6039058…
But Sussmann did provide a false tip, the Alfa Bank information was false. At a minimum Sussmann knew the results were misleading & he was attempting to get the FBI to investigate Trump so he could leak that to the media & influence the 2016 election.
Judges almost always leave these decision to the trial & don't dismiss cases before the evidence is presented.

Another example of the #CollegeAdmission scandal revealing parents that may be linked to other crime.
Gamal Abdelaziz was convicted of bribery for admissions.
But he's a Wynn Casino exec who used to run their Macau casino. Macau is a Chinese money laundering hub.
I found a lot of examples where these parents were linked to other criminal activity, including a $1B heathcare fraud case in Florida.

Wow, Charlie Savage saying @nytimes readers aren't smart enough to understand the issues so they aren't covering it up. They just aren't covering it because their readers can't handle the truth because it is too complex.
So just tell them a fairy tale that it is misinformation.
@nytimes Where it gets interesting is that it is NYT's who started the story that Sussmann gave the CIA information from spying upon the White House.
Were they throwing Sussmann under the bus to distract from a bigger story?
This could all be false information trying to spin the NYTimes. But the researchers are claiming they were spying on the Obama White House, not the Trump White House, so why take that to CIA in Feb. 2017?
