When young Nigerians ply Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and feel perplexed at its terrible state, they may not know a govt between 1999-2007 had ample opportunity to fix it, but did not. The govt only prepared grounds for concession of d road to Bi-Courtney for N89.5Billion. #Atikulate
Bi-Courtney was granted rights to resume toll collection on the busiest road in Africa for N25yrs! This was after the administration had abolished toll gates to justify fuel tax levy in 2004. Obasanjo hitherto dismissed d official N23Million made daily from toll gates as paltry.
All rolled into one, OBASANJO and ATIKU are the fathers, grandfathers, and ancestors of CRONY CAPITALISM in Nigeria. The duo cultivated, mechanized and irrigated the current ravaging extreme poverty in the land through "accumulation by dispossession." #Atikulate
@BBoason You should agree It’ll take a massive stroke of ingenuity to separate the “alleged corrupt practices” from “issues relating to government policies or actions where there is contemporaneously loose governance in an opaquely administered privatization program. #Atikulate
ATIKU remained the Chairman of the National Council on Privatization even when it was reconstituted by OBJ in 2004. ALSCON and other shady bid processes leading to Senate Hearing and cases determined at d level of the Supreme Court is no longer “allegation of corrupt practices.”
There’s no record to show ALSCON wasnt doing well when it was listed for sale. Contrary to public impression, illiquidity was d primary driver of Obasanjo's privatization, and not productivity. Twas suggested that Buhari should also sell FG’s stake in NLNG during 2016 recession.
@BBoason crux of my argument is “how Nigeria became the poverty capital of the world.” Every medicine is a potential poison. Privatization as a govt policy isn't bad. Howbeit, human poverty index doesnt look at numbers of govt businesses that are doing well after privatization.
Its pertinent to ask “what became of Nigerians affected by retrenchment when govt companies were sold” if unemployment is truly an indicator of poverty.
Aside economic theories in effect, which are debatable, no job loss is directly traceable to policy actions of Buhari’s govt.
This isn’t to say Buhari didnt perform below expectations. Nonetheless, it is contributory to anchor contemporary themes of our debate on what to do to address areas where things aren’t working under Buhari than to encourage public resentment instigated by those who sold Nigeria.
Of all animals created by God, it is only humans that are intuitive. ATIKU's show off about employing Nigerians is like an uncle that buys a child ice cream after selling the house his father starved d entire family to build. Intuitively, no human, that encumbered is trustworthy.
While ATIKU and OBJ battle for d souls of national assets, over 1000 companies that survived military era, that are at least 20yrs collapsed. Nothing compares to 2002-2007 layoffs. Dunlop left after Michelin, following a plunge into negative working capital of over N2billion.
NICHEMTEX, NIGERIA TEXTILE MILLS, FIVE STAR, DALTEX, ASWANI all died. The banking sector was the worst hit, where sacking was carried out on a massive scale - SGBN and Savannah bank? Again, Is there any economic catastrophic event today that compares to the stock market meltdown?
Right after OBJ-ATIKU’s banking recapitalization, till today, nobody has explained how most Nigerian bank stocks increased in value exponentially as they continued endless right issues and IPOs, with some stocks quadrupling in value in less than a year between 2004 and 2007.
Immediately the enfant terrible duo left and #Atikulated, from all-time high of N13.5 trillion market capitalization in March 2008, stock prices fell like a meteor to generate less than N4.6 trillion market capitalization by the second week of January 2009.
ATIKU must have assumed Nigerians who lost money in d stock market have recovered? Series of cataclysmic failures of his epoch in govt marked d origin of widening inequality and wage disparity. This is so as all govt bailout amounted to subsidizing failures of wealthy Nigerians.
In over 20yrs, the gap between capitalist rent/surplus and declining income of urban poor have continued to grow. Sadly, children of parents thrown out of jobs by ATIKU and OBJ are the ones eagerly adopting neoliberal distortions about our economic history.
OBJ once said openly that ATIKU will only become President over his dead body. It seems he is ready to die, if not, to the #atikulated you have a duty to kill him first, otherwise by God's grace you will watch Buhari beam his gap tooth at u with a clenched right fist, come 2019.

Constitution review is ongoing and i was expecting we'd bring all the #EndSars energy and coordination to bear. Except for Lagos thats demanding for special status, many other states are fooling around and the few youth who have approached the hearing committee are the clowniest.
Youths & us in mid-life, who have been pressed most & would probably be pressed further in the future are up & about jesting about UAR instead of being vociferous on salient issues. This was how British aged & dying puritans decided Brexit, while their young were busy wassaping.
Some people from Aba are asking for Adada state. There's a lot of babbling about of fiscal federalism by people who barely understand the bureaucratic labyrinth this requires. The recent APC's LG primaries in Lagos should tell you a fiscal fed system will end in tear.

REAL MEN GET THINGS DONE
Its abominable that your wife is unemployed and you are jobless too as a father of a child or children. A man and his wife lost their jobs at about same time in the economic slump of 2015 and there was nothing to turn to. Ong, lack is worse than poverty! Image
In poverty, nothing triggers your desire, as all your neighbours and friends are poor too. Lack is the least mean square of the combined poverty of you, wife, and children in an environment where others can, but you cant, because of wherewithal. Your neighbour better pass you.
I didn't have the money to help but I said to them, "let's sell minerals (soft drinks)." My proposal was to set up a stand at Ogba Bus stop. The woman didn't like the idea as a former corporate person but the man said, "look i will do it because its my duty to feed this family."

UNKNOWN GUN MEN OF GUANAJUATO
Like ESN, Santa Rosa de Lima cartel started by promising people of Guanajuato in Mexico, freedom from taxes and govt oppression. Guanajuato jubilated the emancipation by hailing El Marro, "The Sledgehammer" when he started killing Mexico's police.
Santa Rosa de Lima successfully took Guanajuato local government as its territory by recruiting Guanajuato youths into its private military, but unknowingly to their parents, with proceeds from oil theft and gun-point kidnapping in Hildago. A deadly drug haven is born!
Guanajuato Mexicans in America were praising El Marro, the don of Santa Rosa de Lima, until he started holding guns to the head of their aged parents in Guanajuato, asking their children studying in America to return home, to export drugs as forced human couriers to the US.

A NATION OF SELF HATRED
No matter how long you have lived abroad, your mind will never stop pondering at the mess we collectively made ourselves into, both govt and citizens alike. I typically don't like tweeting about it because of the showoff perception it may probably create.
Pictures above are Services Parks created along a major highway, M4 to Wales from London. There are many signs warning motorists to take a break at the service parks. Our bus drivers have killed many interstate travellers due to deliberate disregard for fatigue as a driving risk.
It got so bad that govt started considering giving guns to Road Safety Officers. Every enforcement in Nigeria is punitive, well rightly so because many behave like goats. Villain and victims. SARS didn't fall from heaven. They are people's depraved uncles, cousins and parents.

IS DANGOTE TRULY AN IDIOT?
Femi Otedola has Diploma in Printing. Cosharis, Ibeto, Eleganza, BigiCola, Doyin, Innoson & Mrs Alakija all benefitted from the Nigerian state. They barely studied in a university. You will never see this kind of delusional bigotry put out against them.
I will donate £4000 to the school, If @AfamDeluxo will mention the school, what forum and the academic profile of his Russian professor that has this opinion about Dangote. Same set of people always making up stories that "Dangote is Dangote because he makes cement in Nigeria."
@AfamDeluxo's Russian Professor may not have heard about Saipem-Dangote before?
Dangote has stakes in oil & gas production SPVs in GoM, Nigeria and Mozambique. There's Dangote Cement in Tanzania, Ethiopia and 10 other countries.
@DoubleEph said he's mixing sand with cement. 😃

COLONIAL PIPELINE PAID $5MILLION RANSOME TO HACKERS
E-Banditary in America.
How was the $5Million cyber-ransome collected? Gumi ti wa l'America. Before y'all kill yourselves over Nigeria, its abundantly clear civilization is fragile than we think. nytimes.com/2021/05/13/us/…
Many countries in the calibre of America have grown, not only because they have good leaders in quote. Unlike ours, Its because they have fewer people working against the country from within, compared to the number of citizens making concerted effort to build it.
After a badly managed Covid-19 response, a president trying to upturn election outcome and the invasion of its Congress, America has seen grid collapse in texas, fuel scarcity, with hackers getting away with $5Million ransome. You should all expect more to come.
