Never forget: This 'nationalist' government has allowed foreign funding to political parties AND allowed donations to be anonymous through electoral bonds.
Have made it a habit to remind all my OTT BJP supporting friends and family about this. Every chance I get.

Please do the same. We've been collectively betrayed.
Even the outgoing Election Commission Chief has expressed his concerns about the shadiness that Electoral Bonds have enabled.

This can prove to be a bigger and nastier scam than Rafale, that too spread across all parties!

Whattay surprise... NOT.

BJP has bagged 95% of total electoral bonds sold, which comes to 220 crore. And this was just the first tranch.

According to the report Rs 600 cr worth bonds have been sold which haven't reflected in the account books yet!

So yeah, in 2016, the FCRA rules were altered through the Finance Bill to allow foreign donations to political parties.

Then came the Finance Bill 2017 which introduced Electoral Bonds -- An anonymous way to give monies to parties.

Electoral Bonds are being positioned as a 'clean' instrument to get more white money into politics. Yeah. Great marketing.

Along comes 2018 where they decided to, well... make it worse. Finance Bill 2018 retrospectively legalized foreign funding to parties from 1976!

The political situation in #Punjab is quite funny and interesting.

Here's a simplified thread for those who are trying to figure out WTF is going on:
In multiple constituencies, Congress candidates and ex-congress candidates and their family members and relatives are busy trying to backstab each other.

Bohot bawaal ho raha hai by god. If you go seat by seat to figure out these micro-battles, you'll go bonkers.
People are PISSED with the BJP because of the farmers protest. Off camera quite a few people let loose the choicest of gaalis for them and their leaders. My ears turned red.

But BJP is *still* trying to field candidates & fight it out.

Have to say, kaafi brave of them. Truly.

Channel has been terminated.

Last video posted was 9 hours ago. Link redirects to a channel that doesn't exist.

Strangely enough, no updates have been given from their Twitter handle.

No update on YouTube channel hack from @sansad_tv still.

They're casually posting new promos without including YouTube link.

This is how the draft 2019 bill defines #cryptocurrency.

If this is the definition they'll go by in the new bill too, you can guess how absolutely bonkers the new law is going to be.
In case you missed it, this definition would technically cover Fortnite money as well. Or Assassin's Creed money. Or PUBG money. Or any other 'information or code or number or token' which has inherent value.

Fun times.
I can see people trying to figure out what 'private' cryptocurrencies are.

Realistically speaking -- just looking at the way this govt comes up with laws -- it's likely to be a definition you did NOT expect.

This govt notoriously doesn't listen to experts before making laws.

It was launched by Kalli Purie who threw a giant ball of swirling energy into a wall and CGI Helicopters belched out the words "GNT" in the sky.

Republic TV did a show yesterday on the garbage conspiracy theory that Coronavirus is a bioweapon that came from China.

Feel like this is a test baloon being released to see audience reactions. Desperately trying to shift blame from the Modi govt.
Remember last year when they did all the SSR nonsense for months?

If TV media picks this bioweapon trash conspiracy theory up and blows it up, giving it coverage consistently, we're doomed.

Here's how political violence in Bengal works, in short:

When CPIM was in power, some party people left the party and joined TMC. Then CPIM unleashed violence on TMC.

When TMC came to power, they unleashed violence on CPIM. For revenge and also for territorial control.
When CPIM lost relevance, bunch of pissed off beaten & battered CPIM people joined BJP. Then TMC unleashed hell on BJP.

Essentially, ex-CPIM-ex-TMC-ex-BJP people are unleashing violence on current-CPIM-TMC-BJP workers, depending on who won in which area of Bengal.
Anyone who follows and understands Bengal politics knows that it's all about dominance and territorial control.

Doesn't matter which party you join or change to or from, the theory of gaining power through violence remains the same. Because the people are the same.
