Shocked, upset and sad to hear about @shanisebarona experience with @girldevelopit Kinda messed up as I used to be a TA and then instructor in NYC. To this day I’ve referred them as a great opportunity for tech inclusivity, esp for POC. I may have been wrong.
This is where I was taught the use of more inclusive, gender neutral language when using examples in my classes (which I think is a VALID and RIGHT thing to do). The idea is learning should be more representative of the people you’re aiming to help.
After hearing how @shanisebarona experience of further marginalizing, un-includeing, and dismissing POC on the @causeascenePod what’s messed up is they used all of the language and tactics that often associated with men in the workplace to dismiss women and their opinions

@girldevelopit really need to directly address their issues, not a blanket PR statement that sounds like every other PR damage control statement to get to the issues MONTHS from now. This doesn’t address the real issue & they don’t SOUND new. See:
To make it worse, they use hero’s to the very same people they are accused of marginalizing. 
None of this feels right AND I’m happy that people spoke up because it makes people like me feel like we’re a part of the problem for being too ignorant of what’s really happening.
And when I ask “what do we do now?” It’s not really asking to bring people down but to really help figure out a solution to this shit
