(1/6) The ACP data that released today is not easy to read, but we must take it in and appreciate what it tells us. Facts are our friends, even when we are disappointed by the results. bit.ly/2VNPqNk
(2/6) The numbers released today strengthen my resolve that every Southern Baptist - conventions, associations, entities, and especially local churches - must prioritize the Gospel above all. Scripture tells us that the gospel is the power to save.
(3/6) I was encouraged by the slight increases in giving. I look forward to ongoing discussions about our generosity, and how our systems can best aid in effective partnership toward the Great Commission.
(4/6) Like many, I am discouraged to see seven thousand less baptisms this year. It is the Lord who saves, but this information should spur us on even more to be intentional in evangelism. I hope that every Southern Baptist would participate in the Who's Your One initiative.
(5/6) For the upcoming generation, our prayer should be to see an increase in evangelism, church planting and revitalization, and ultimately an end to decades of decline. First things must be first, not only in our declarations but especially in our demonstrations.
(6/6) I pray that our annual meeting in Birmingham will spur all of us to that end. #SBC19

I have loved and appreciated Beth Moore’s ministry and will continue to in the future. Personally, she has been an encouragement to me and I will always be grateful. (1/5)

I am grieved anytime someone who believes in the inerrant Scripture, shares our values and desires to cooperate says that they do not feel at home in our convention. (2/5)
When I first allowed my name to be nominated for President, I said we did not need to change our doctrine or our mission, we needed to change our culture. (3/5)

(1/5) Sometimes I hear people say, “All you Christians care about is the preborn!” Don’t believe it. Since 1973, for every 1 abortion clinic in America Christians have built 3 pregnancy centers to assist women in crisis.
(2/5) They are buying groceries and helping them get housing and whatever else. Go into foster services and adoption agencies and there you will find the group represented most are pro-life Christians and their friends.
(3/5) Christians have built more hospitals around the world than any other single group—for a long time in sub-Saharan African there was not a single hospital that hadn’t been built by a Christian mission.

Thank you Dr. Evans!

This is a discussion that needs nuance, not blunt force trauma. (1/9)
As the Seminary Presidents said--and I affirm-- because CRT does not begin with the image of God in man and because it locates sin in structures rather than in individuals, as an ideological framework it is incompatible with the Bible. (2/9)
But some in our ranks inappropriately use the label of “CRT!” to avoid legitimate questions or as a cudgel to dismiss any discussion of discrimination. Many cannot even define what CRT is. (3/9)

I’m deeply grieved and confused by this #JacobBlake video. As a dad, my teens are trying to process it and I’m not sure how to coach them, as many of you are. We grieve a deeply racialized society that gives birth to hostility and suspicion. We want to live in a country... 1/
To be clear, I’m not attempting to play judge and jury. As a pastor, I’m neither called nor—from my vantage point—competent to do that here. I am grieving the devastation of a family, the racialized society in which this happened, which gives rise to seemingly incessant... 3/
...hostility and suspicion, and of course the trauma left by years of racial sin in our country that manifests in moments like this and shapes how each of us approaches it. We all should grieve this and yearn for a society where race is no longer... 4/

I am broken over what was revealed today. The abuses described in this @HoustonChron article are pure evil. I join with countless others who are currently “weeping with those who weep.” 1/9

The voices in this article should be heard as a warning sent from God, calling the church to repent. As Christians, we are called to expose everything sinful to the light. The survivors in this article have done that—at a personal cost few of us can fathom. 2/9
We must admit that our failures, as churches, put these survivors in a position where they were forced to stand alone and speak, when we should have been fighting for them. Their courage is exemplary and prophetic. But I grieve that their courage was necessary. 3/9
