Long thread ahead- Please share & retweet for help and do your Twitter Thing, please? :D
A few months ago, I started a support group for women with stories similar to mine, for women dealing with depression and/or going through divorce.
Project Kintsugi, that’s the name of my support group, is a safe, close- knitted space for women to come and share their stories/talk about their experiences without fear of judgement.
Through my support group, I do not directly offer solutions to their problems - we come together as people with similar stories, and we LISTEN. I have been doing this for a few months now, and I have been talking about it on my Instagram page as well- instagram.com/indugopal/
A lot of women write to me about their issues and/or text me when they are low. While I have been able to offer a lending ear or a shoulder, I only make them feel better temporarily. But some of the issues they deal with can be very serious and critical in nature,
the kind that would need professional support and advice. Most of them do not know where to start, and to help them get assistance when they need it the most, I am working on putting together a repository of useful professional contacts from where they can seek help.
If you know any lawyers, therapists, psychiatrists, support forums, or any other useful contacts, please help us by sharing the details in the Google form- forms.gle/ySMB6om13p9WGb…
The expectation is not for you to personally vouch for any of them, but through personal experience or through word of mouth, if you know someone who can help these women, then please be kind enough to share details here. It could be of great help to someone in dire need.
I am that someone who left the phone in the cab and I got it back (phew!) These are the things that helped (and didn’t)
1) I filed a ticket on the app from a friend’s phone. WORST experience because I couldn’t login from my account on the app (only phone no. + OTP login)
Only the browser lets you login using your mail ID. There is no customer support number to call, so for everything a form needs to be filled (Yes, even if you are involved in a critical accident or emergency)
@Apple’s FIND MY PHONE IS A BLESSSING! It was a life saver today. I logged in to my iCloud account to track the location, we locked the phone and gave a friend’s number.. since my phone was on silent the ‘play sound’ feature helped.
TRIGGER WARNING
Singapore, Apr'14-This was when we went to Singapore for his birthday. We went zip lining for the first time that day. I look happy here because only when we were away from Chennai I was allowed to remove my thali (mangalsutra) and I had the freedom to wear shorts
I was happy to be out, I was happy to be with friends but this was a photo for social media and it doesn’t tell you the real story.
This was the day after he (my ex) got physically violent with me.
He hit me, scratched me and pushed me off the bed because I asked him to keep his voice down. He also had this habit of biting and that night he left a huge bite mark on my arm to ‘shut me up’ and to ‘teach me a lesson’. All this when I had my friends sleeping in the next room
