Received transcripts this morning from the trial for #NXIVM leader Keith Raniere from Tuesday of this week. The witness, the woman from Mexico who was part of NXIVM who was previously on the stand continues her testimony on direct examination.
Begins by talking about early 2007 when she says her younger sister had appendicitis and needed surgery. Says there is a scar from this, if there is a photo of her sister with no scar, she would have to be under 16-years-old. Now talking about an email from her to Raniere.
Subject line is "About VC." Witness says VC is a nickname Raniere had for her sister calling her a virgin. Says email came after a time period where she had a fight with Raneire and they were not speaking. Email was about her sister taking birth control when she was almost 17yo.
Now talking about her family being in the country illegally at certain points. Says there was a lawyer involved at some point about her siblings' legal status. Says when she first came illegally into the country she was "completely dependent" on Raniere.
Witness now describing what it was like living at Flintlock. Says many people lived in the condo with Raniere. Says Kristen Keefe would give him a rundown of several things every morning, and Raniere did a lot with stock market. Says there was also "very sexual" talk sometimes.
Now talking about some of the work she'd do for NXIVM, describes it as "not-for-pay" work. Says she recorded Raneire at his request most of the day, either audio or visual. Says once Raniere got very upset about stocks and that something had gone wrong. Says she didn't understand
Says there were discussions about obtaining people's bank records. Says Raniere would decide who would be investigated. A sidebar is requested. Government says they are trying to set a time frame and her own involvement in these things. Sidebar ends.
Witness says Keefe would go "into the field" on "little missions" to gather information and report back to Raneire. Says there was a "focus on protecting Keith." Says there was a time they were trying to gain access to an email address of Kristen Snyder.
Says this surrounded Snyder's disappearance in Alaska. Says there were also trying to obtain info on Rick Ross (@RickAlanRoss), a cult deprogrammer. Also mentions gathering info on Toni Natalie (@ToniNatalie1017). Says Raniere was willing to pay a lot of money for the passwords
Talks about a person by the nickname of The Dark Lord who was supposed to be able to help with this, they said no. Said she then needed to work on finding someone else to do it. Says she figured it out but felt it was unethical and voiced that to Raniere.
Says Raniere convinced her these were bad people, "supprssives," and that hacking them would be a good thing. Says the first one she tried to hack was Joe O'Hara. As an aside, gov asks if Raniere every drove. Witness says no.
She now explains how she specifically tried to hack the emails, she reported along the way to Raniere. Says most of this happened at 3 Flintlock. Says she was unsuccessful in the hack. They came up with another plan to do this and executed with Kathy Russell. This was successful.
