The topic of puberty blockers is often rife with ill-informed arguments and misconceptions

We wanted to tackle that head-on and share some poignant information, from real sources. Let’s get away from the speculation, myths and falsities👀

Puberty blockers ARE safe, here’s why🧵 Image
🏳️‍⚧️ To start off, what are puberty blockers?

Historically used to treat a range of things including precious puberty, they’ve been used for many years to suppress natural sex hormone production in trans youth and adults.
Puberty blockers can prevent hormones linked to the assigned gender at birth from being released during puberty, and thus pause the progression of specific characteristics linked with the wrong gender of a trans person.

We're back live tweeting the second day of Dr Helen's High Court case regarding the GMC's request to extend her suspension. Court is due to commence at 10.30.
Seems to be a delay, it might be a tech issue we're told, so sit tight.
The Judge is apologising for the delay. Someone has raised the issue of live tweeting, the judge is re-iterating that it is ok to live tweet but not to record any part of the hearing.

We're live tweeting the select committee meeting into the Reform of the Gender Recognition Act, it's just starting now...
The GRA is a little outdated, it came from 2004 when there wasn't equal marriage or the pension act, says Barrister Robin White
Karon Monaghan QC says one of the difficulties with the GRA is that it conflates gender and sex. She says sex is about biology and gender is about social attributes. She says there is a lack of clarity in the criteria to get a GRC

UK pharmacy regulator @TheGPhC - has recently begun unfairly targeting pharmacies that work with our patients. This began with Clear Chemist, in October of 2020, and now one of the alternative pharmacies we put in place has been prevented from operating. gendergp.com/fighting-for-t…
This affects trans youth in the UK who are aged 17 and under, and all those on Synarel. Excellent provision remains in place for all other service users and their care is not affected.
GenderGP would like to reassure all our younger patients that we will continue to fight for your rights to access affirmative healthcare until equality is achieved.

Endocrine Society Urges Policy Makers to Follow Science on Transgender Health.

Texas custody case prompts unfounded claims.

Full @TheEndoSociety statement in thread below...
A custody case in Texas has sparked heated debate and embroiled state policy makers in public discussions about the diagnosis and appropriate medical treatment of transgender children.

2/17
Unfortunately, many of the claims being made about gender-affirming care for transgender and gender-incongruent individuals are inaccurate. Policies concerning the diagnosis and treatment of transgender individuals should be based on science, not politics.
