EVERYBODY IS LEAVING - A LIE!
I had reasons to frequent Ikeja General Hospital Burn and Trauma Unit early in the year, and It was mixed feelings for me with the state of affairs. Without making excuses for government's ineptitude, friends, the problem we have is beyond normal.

Nigerians are extraordinary! We are a potpourri of good, bad and the very ugly. Isn't ugly that a man was hospitalized and died because he couldn't pay for blood and other things needed for his surgery? He works for government and his department was to cover his surgery expenses.

The surgery is about N360,000 and he has put in paperwork, awaiting approval. His time continued to tick, with the surgery delayed in excess of three weeks when he died, because there was no money. After his death, ~N17 Million; and $12,000, all cash were found in his bedroom.

His coworkers argued, if he pays for the surgery out of pocket, he wont get reimbursement. So the practice is they all always pretend not to have money to get such benefits. Somebody confided that at his death the money was hurriedly approved, back dated and was shared by others.

The bad behaviour of politicians makes it hard to fully appreciate how recklessly unsustainable this nation is, even if politicians aren't stealing. Please, how can an 80 beds accident emergency unit, admit 210? Yet more continued to blackmail the hospital, to force their way in.

At LASUTH, you will shed tears seeing the amount of work doctors, nurses, and other medical workers put in to salvage a horribly bad situations. If you are very emotional, please, don't dream of working in government hospitals. You won't take a dime home from your salary. 😀

The shocking part is the amount of emergencies pouring in, as if there's a factory where Lagosians manufacture people with broken skull, plucked eyes, person stabbed with broken bottle, Keke tricycle amputated legs, gun shot injuries, 4th degree burn from hot akara oil, name it!

Ambulances continuously pour in with people on life support. Before Doctors are done stabilizing one, another will arrive. The scenario looks like a war zone, and the most emotional part are the young boys & girls on housemanship, who pay bills for patients from their allowances.

It isn't ideal for doctors to pay for patients, but this is our reality, and rather than pack their bags to seek greener pastures in Canada, many Nigerian youths still believe in this country and have continuously given their all, to keep things going in spite of govt failures.

Hospitals are a small part. There're other areas, where patriotic Nigerians have continued to put in sweat, with the believe things will work. How much do the #RevolutionNow protesters think @HQNigerianArmy pay soldiers to fight? Will you accept double this salary to do the job?

While you shamelessly sit on this app to create mass apprehension that people are leaving and soldiers are dying, there are young girls in their 20s, carrying rifles to keep you safe. I froze the day this girl walked past me. Over 800 of them just finished induction as recruits.

All around here are political talkative like AishaYesufu, whose only contributions are attention seeking
grandiloquence. If u ask for a reason why #RevolutionNow protest is necessary, they'll reply you with, "so you like the situation in Nigeria?" Like what situation, please?
