(Don’t do this very often but....) A #Thread:
We’re nearly at that time of year when #teachers are having #Inset and #training days. Every year I read through the horrors of such days on #edutwitter through the later days of August and the early days of September...
I read about awful training, cringe at quotes from course providers and feel my skin crawl at the thought of sitting through some of it. Dreadful stuff. Nail-digging-into-palm-stuff. I don’t like it at all.
When I’m working with teacher colleagues, I am absolutely giving my best. I don’t take anything for granted. Today there were 200 of us in a tent at a racecourse in #Leicester. This is a big day. It’s chuffing boiling and we all know it. I am delivering for five hours.....
We can’t sack it off cos of the heat. We are all committed. Tonight I’ve been overwhelmed by the messages from the colleagues in the tent-all appreciating that, you know what, it was really hot, but it was worthwhile. I am buzzing. This is a #HappyInset.
Please could those of you who are kind enough to read this far and who are participating in an Inset this week of next, celebrate the good stuff? The good event? The great day? The #HappyInset?
A #HappyInset doesn’t need an outside speaker like me, it could just be the day you get a load of stuff done and someone brought biscuits-know what I mean? The unhappy stuff can sometimes be funny, but only to a point.
Call people out if they’re no good, call them out when they are.
