Today 100,000 people took the streets of Westminster demanding radical policy reform. From the beaches of Soloman islands, the roads of Melbourne to the streets of Westminster, we echoed the same message!
Across the seas, over mountains, through deserts, we are the generation that will unapologetically put humanity at the very top of the agenda. We will not rest until the Government has heard our message; The Time to Act is now!
LOOK, It’s the union family united, what a pleasure to meet Gen Sec of @NEUnion@cyclingkev and the fabulous @DrJoGrady & was also a pleasure to follow @jeremycorbyn jeremycorbyn with these amazing unionists!
Huge shoutout to Jake and the team @UKSCN1 for coordinating the strikes alongside many incredible organisation. I remember grabbing a coffee 3months ago during my first few days as Pres to talk about this day! #YouthClimateTakeover#ClimateStrikes#GlobalClimateStrikes

Don’t let elected officials, big funding bodies or organisations you work with dim down your light, gaslight you into believing your ideas are ‘too radical’ or ‘unrealistic’!
Let me tell you this for free..
There is nothing at all radical about everyone having access fo a fully funded and just education system.
There is nothing radical about everyone having the right to shelter and food in every corner of this globe.
To all my non black friends,
I, like every black sibling, is hurting.
We feel a pain & suffering that runs centuries deep, that you will never understand!
I don’t need a ‘Are you okay text’ I need you to read & develop critical consciousness especially in state violence!
Since our last communication regarding NUS' plan to support students during this crisis, we’ve heard of so many tragic stories from the frontline and within our communities.
With great sadness, I report that we have also lost a wonderful family member from our student movement. I want to firstly pay tribute to Ruth Southall, who has sadly passed away. Ruth was the Representation Development Manager at @UoNSU.
Ruth made a wonderful contribution to the student movement over many, many years. Her work will have touched the lives of countless students. My thoughts are with her family and friends.
Because @nusuk conferences is digital the fun never ends(I’m not Sorry😂)! You can watch & then re-watch all the motion speeches! And also watch the National Scrutiny Council candidates speeches (NSC) & Democratic Procedures Committee (DPC). I’ll link them ⬇️
All the Motion speech’s have been tweeted by @nusconnect and voting is open till Monday 12noon!! 🗳 (Ignore the fact that I look I’m about to 🤧, I’m collecting all the L’s these days) #nusnc20@nusuk
All the NSC speeches are also up, you can watch them here, unfortunately no @UWLSUPresident dressed in a bell pepper speech but you know, we’ll take what we get! Same voting deadline Monday 12 noon @nusuk 🗳 #nusnc20
These past few weeks have been unprecedented in the history of the student movement. The Covid-19 pandemic shutting down our institutions & indeed our entire country has made more confusion, uncertainty and fear endemic to the lives of every student.
Tomorrow I will be presenting an emergency motion to #nusconference / #nusnc2020 that sets out @nusuk’s guiding principles as we respond to this crisis. So I felt I should update you on the number of actions we’ve taken since the start of this crisis.
On the 16th of March I wrote to the Chancellor of the Exchequer to request the lowering of the Statutory Sick Pay threshold and other support for student workers, as well as support for FE and HE providers who may encounter funding.
🧵#IWD: I spent international Womens day with the most incredible woman in my life, my mother!
The Zamzam you all know, was carefully crafted by my hooyo. She never let me give up, she never let me make up excuses and she always taught me to stand up for what I believe in. 1/6
Even when she watched her daughter receive death threats, she told me to rise above it. When people told me I wasn’t good enough, she made me show them a million reasons why I was. #IWD 2/6
She challenged me when I thought I knew it all & reminded me constantly, fighting for justice is not easy nor comfortable! She taught me the importance of thinking beyond myself - of community, ummah and of international solidarity,&that the fight peace & justice is universal 3/6
