This is horrific for the Kurds. An imprimatur for Erdogan to do what he wants: slaughter Kurds at will. I am appalled and ashamed that this is US foreign policy.
I will say it again: Democrats running for the presidency are not talking nearly enough about foreign policy. If we don't win back the Senate, the one area where the presidency will exert power is in this realm. I need more.
Kurds aside (& I don't set their likely slaughter aside lightly), there will be a terrorism effect as YPG & other fighters move to the north & ISIS enjoys a resurgence.
Hey Dems running for president & moderators: i don't need to hear about healthcare proposals that may not even happen for 45 min at the next debate. I need to know what you're going to do on US foreign policy & as commander in chief. Seriously.

And if one Dem says rhetoric bullshit like "America cannot be involved in endless wars" & fails to continue that sentence with what they are actually going to do, I will lose my shit. No Dem wants endless war but there are geopolitical calculations to be made. I want to hear them

Trump aside, though, this mess has been in the making for some time with Erdogan aching to go down this road, although it is facilitated by Trump's foreign policy flunkie isolationist instincts.
A blanket response to some of you: Not everything happening in the world is (necessarily) about Trump properties or impeachment: It MIGHT be...but we must be able to evaluate geopolitical developments without the lens or valence of US-centricism.

Pres Biden says there is unity between NATO allies as regards escalating tensions in Russian-Ukraine crisis. As the US warned, Russia is launching phony allegations of Ukrainian aggression in separatist regions.
These allegations are being used by Russia to falsely justify invading Ukraine, according to Pres Biden. The US believes a Russian invasion can & may take place within days, but the US & allies will hold Russia accountable for its actions.

Pres Biden makes clear that Russia can choose diplomacy instead of a war of choice that will yield grave consequences.

You know what is insanity? Watching Republicans destroy this country cycle after cycle, to the point democracy itself is on the brink, & privileged people like you threatening to withhold your vote. There is only 1 pro-America team in town & it is the Democrats. #VoteBlueIn2022
Election after election, there is always some privileged fool with their cynical bullshit about no one earning their vote. They are part of the vote suppression caucus & they're doing the tacit dirty work of the GOP. if you're not #votingBluein2022, you are part of the problem.
I write about elections across the world for a living where people risk life & limb to exercise the right to vote, hoping that one day, they will get their democracy dividend. And so they show up to vote.

On Oct 3 2021, the writer of this article went after Biden who was visiting the graves of his children. Now she's claiming Biden, who buried 2 children & a wife, "uses" funerals for political utility. Annie Linskey remains a terrible person with no empathy for people who grieve.
I would note that the actual article by Linksey is more nuanced than the actual summary disseminated by the Washington Post on Twitter. As a newspaper of record, one would expect better. As for the journalist, most of us cannot forget this. He went to see the graves of his kids! Image
One wonders about journalists who are more interested in an angle & a story, than about the fact that death devastates us, grief mires us, & we have a president who understands that-- especially at a time of pandemic when death is a daily reminder.

LOL, McCarthy is comparing Biden's presidency to Carter's. Dude. Biden is the modern FDR.

McCarthy is giving the GOP greatest hits -- he's now crying about us being out of Afghanistan, as if Trump didn't sign the withdrawal agreement; there was also Green new Deal, the border, masks....This is why booze was made.
