Some folk are downright terrified of marginalized people vetting the frontrunners for allyship & intersectionality, they’d rather silence constructive critique and label it divisive than examine the privilege and erasure that come with all the free passes they’re handing out. 😒

Just so we’re clear, telling folk they have to STFU to maintain an illusion of enthusiasm for and solidarity with candidates who are repeatedly alienating and insulting them in insidious, oblivious, White privileged ways isn’t the best endorsement for your fave. It just ain’t.

Y’all don’t get to keep using “well he/she is still better than Trump” as an excuse for your fave failing to pass the reliable White ally test in this primary. A bar that low isn’t safe enough for the most vulnerable among us and if you still don’t get that you’re unreliable too.

Unexamined White privilege will not be the death of White supremacy. Let that marinate, then cook it on a low simmer.

Let it be known that when they say these front runners are the safest options possible, they mean they’re the absolute least threatening to White supremacy as a social construct. Accepting cultural insensitivity from Ds and giving it passes doesn’t address or solve the problem.

Nevertheless I still see White people on here who claim they are or aspire to be reliable allies literally shouting down everybody from Natives to Blacks to now Asians and LGBTQs in the spirit of support for their fave. They don’t see themselves b/c they’re disavowing mirrors.

The sense of urgency to repeal and replace Trump with a Democrat shouldn’t obviate the priority for said Democrat to demonstrate capability of being a reliable ally and champion for the most besieged members of our multicultural coalition. That’s a pass I’m not willing to give.

Your fave still needs to build a diverse coalition that gets them the math they need to win from coast to coast in the primary and general, you aren’t doing them any favors by preventing them from hearing what they need to do/say to actually earn those votes in real time.

Also that doesn’t only mean what WWC, White “moderate”, evangelical or progressive voters want to see/hear, but also what the actual base of the Democratic Party wants to see/hear too. We don’t just get erased by virtue of you not wanting to hear us. That’s not how this works.

The passes y’all are handing out are a privilege. That’s most certainly your choice to make and support to give if you’d like, just don’t be shocked when it doesn’t impart safety or trust into voters who are looking for a reliable ally, not just someone who’s better than Trump.
