If you were going to set out a comprehensive strategy to suppress global investment and energy market interest in Alberta's oil and gas products, this would be your plan. #ableg
1. Weaken pipeline review processes to make the resulting approvals vulnerable to environmental and Indigenous opposition and judicial reversal. edmontonjournal.com/business/energ…
2.a. Overhaul existing GHG standards that are affair across sectors, to implement regulations that give massive emissions subsidies to the most polluting facilities, ... cbc.ca/news/canada/ca…
2.b. ... creating perverse long-term incentives against emissions-reducing innovations and investment decisions in our sector. I.e.: worsen the climate performance of the industry going forward. calgaryherald.com/opinion/column…
2.c. In other words, you change provincial regulations to privilege the worst deposits and performers that the world is increasingly looking to turn away from, while punishing the lower-emitting facilities that the world is looking to invest in and buy from.
3. Launch a witch hunt against domestic environmental organizations that have a pragmatic track record of working with forward-thinking actors in your energy industry.

4. Launch a “war room” to implement (with public resources) your adversarial stance against international environmental voices who have the ear of major international financial markets.

5.a. Now for the final offensive. The “Kudahgrass”, so to speak.
5.b. When a remarkably genuine 16-year-old girl captures the world’s hearts and minds through a global youth movement, thumb your nose at them all and visibly conscript the oil and gas industry into your adversarial posture.
5.c. Then — when that same girl announces plans to visit your province — demand she immediately visit repressive dictatorships, making clear the plane of comparison you place the industry on.

5.d. And finally — when she does visit our seat of government with over 10,000 people — shutter the building, head out to a coal plant and mock them for using electricity. edmontonjournal.com/news/local-new…
Sound familiar? #ableg
