BREAKING: the ethics commissioner has responded to the NDP's letter. Marguerite Trussler says the members under investigation by the elex comissioner (like Peter Singh would be in conflict of interest) if they vote on Bill 22 #ableg
MLAs who have close associates that are being investigated by elex commissioner, or who work for them, would likely be in conflict if they vote on bill 22, Trussler says. #ableg
Another interesting part of Trussler's letter -- she says 10 members of the public have asked her to investigate the matter, stop the proceedings of Bill 22 -- or they have shared concerns with her. #ableg
I'm putting the letter into Document Cloud and will share link when ready (of course, I know have to remember my password to Document Cloud which isn't certain) #ableg
They have called a division on the vote on third reading for Bill 22. The bells are ringing, calling MLAs back to the chamber for a recorded vote. The letter from the ethics commissioner appears to have had no effect on the proceedings. #ableg
Here is that letter from the ethics commissioner.

As my colleague @CGriwkowsky has noted, the letter is cc'd to the Speaker, @jkenney @LeelaAheer @prasadpandayyc @doug_schweitzer Seniors and Housing Minister Josephine Pon, Calgary East MLA Peter Singh, Sherwood Park MLA Jordan Walker, Cardston Siksika MLA Joseph Schow #ableg
@CGriwkowsky @jkenney @LeelaAheer @prasadpandayyc @doug_schweitzer The bells are ringing to bring MLAs back into the house for the third and final vote on Bill 22. #ableg
Getting ready to hear from NDP Leader Rachel Notley on the passage of Bill 22 #ableg
Notley is still barred from the house because she refuses to apologize for saying the government house leader mislead the house when he said no one was being fired by Bill 22 #ableg
Serious looking NDP MLAs awaiting Notley. #ableg
Uh oh. The NDP MLAs have had to leave to vote on the budget bill which was in committee of the whole. #ableg
Notley is here now. Calls passage of Bill 22 a black mark on premier, cabinet and his caucus #ableg
These are actions of premier and government consumed by power, Notley said. She said Kenney and the UCP caucus are united in corruption #ableg
Notley talks about the letter from the ethics commissioner about conflicts of interest of some UCP MLAs that she got at 10 am #ableg
We gave UCP a chance to delay vote so UCP MLAs could check possible ethics violations, but they forged ahead, Notley says. #ableg
Notley says Kenney does not have a mandate to bring corruption back to Alberta. #ableg
Notley says multiple complaints will be filed with the Ethics commissioner asking that every UCP MLA that voted for Bill 22 and the premier be investigated for conflicts of interest. #ableg
Notley says the lieutenant governor has told her she will not intervene by refusing royal assent. #ableg
Notley will not be in the house today. Discussions still underway about what the rules for return are. #ableg

The NDP had a number of concerns including uncapped donations to nomination contestants. Madu is proposing a $4,000 cap.
NDP is concerned that move still doesn’t prevent someone from donating $4,000 to as many nomination candidates as possible (and isn’t included in the maximum annual limit of $4200 for a single donor) #ableg

.@jkenney keeps asking NDP MLAs were ever on the Skypalace patio while they were in government.

There wasn't a pandemic when they were in government.

#ableg
@jkenney Kenney reads the rules allowing outdoor gatherings to 10 people.

He neglects to add the part about needing to socially distance. (which is in the rules).
