CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’s address to the State today:
Our State has been in a lockdown for almost 8 days, I would like to thank you for your patience.
You all and all the leaders of the MVA Ajit Pawar, Anil Deshmukh, Rajesh Tope, Ashok Chavan, Balasaheb Thorat are with me.
I am also discussing with the Leader of Opposition. Raj Thackeray has also been giving me good suggestions.
Thanks to all for joining hands with us in this time of crisis.
We have started a separate account for CM Relief Fund. Shri Uday Kotak ji called me today and said he will contribute ₹10 crore.
Many are coming forward, contributing masks, setting up hospital facilities, I would like to thank them all.
This virus is creating havoc worldwide, we must take care as those nations which did not are suffering.
Workers from other States want to go home, my request is stay where you are. The Maharashtra Government will take full responsibility
We have started centres at 163 places to give food, so stay where you are, do not commit any folly.
I will make a similar request to workers from Maharashtra who are in other States.
Shops of essentials can remain open all 24 hours for your convenience.
However, people are leaving their houses unnecessarily. This leads to friction with the Police who are working around the clock.
Central Government is in constant touch with Maharashtra Government.
My request to sugar factories owners is to please take care of your employees, workers and sugar cane cutters.
Free lunch will be given even if they do not have ration cards. Shiv Bhojan will be given for ₹5.
My request to people of all faiths is please stop crowding in certain areas. This is a health emergency.
I am in touch with doctors from Kasturba and Naidu hospitals. I salute their efforts. I speak to them occasionally as I was told it will boost their morale. But, in reality it boosts my morale. They are very brave.
We have increased testing and screening centres, there will be a rise in those testing positive for Corona, which will happen.
Many who had tested positive earlier have been cured.
But, cases of pneumonia may rise. I will request private medical practitioners to ask such patients to undergo X-rays and haemograms.
Some thousand travellers are in home quarantine. As neighbours and relatives we should ensure they observe these protocols. Social distancing is necessary.
Pregnant women, children, those above 60, and affected hypertension, diabetes are in the high risk group and they and those around them must take care.
If the crowds in shops selling essentials do not reduce, we will have to take stern action.
There is no shortage of essentials and medicines.
The Government is capable of fighting the war outside, but you stay at home, step out only if it is urgent.
Spend quality time at home & with your family.
These days too shall pass. The world has never seen something like this. But I am confident that we will prevail.
