You see, @EricTrump, the Constitution sets up a 3-part government.

The intent was to give specific powers to each branch and create something called checks and balances.

This makes sure no single entity has too much power.

You see, @EricTrump, when a projection is that hundreds of thousands of Americans may die (more than died fighting in World War II) and if something could have prevented those deaths, we should know, right? To make sure it doesn't happen again?
Also @EricTrump, elected officials are supposed to be working on behalf of the citizens (not self-dealing) so if something goes really wrong (like lots of people die unnecessarily) the people have a right to learn more.

It's called accountability.
