A serious situation is unfolding at the National Center for Medical Health in Mandaluyong. As of April 5, hospital admin has confirmed that 34 have tested positive for COVID at the hospital, a whopping 28 of them healthcare workers. 3 patients have already died.
279 NCMH employees are PUIs, while 181 are PUMs. 50 psychiatrists are in quarantine (out of 83), while 30% of nursing staff are now unable to report to work. They say the main problem is the lack of PPEs. Admin says they only have 100 PPEs left. They need 250 pieces per day.

After speaking with us last week about the situation at the National Center for Mental Health, Chief Admin Claire Avila has been ordered reassigned to the Drug Abuse Treatment Rehabilitation Center in Las Piñas. No reason was indicated in the DOH and NCMH orders. 
Avila was earlier served a de facto gag order by NCMH Director Roland Cortez after the report aired. “I feel this is really harassment and persecution, because I told media about what’s really happening here,” Avila said in an interview.
Avila says she plans to challenge the order citing RA7305 or The Magna for Public Health Workers. We tried reaching out to Director Cortez and the DOH for this story but they have not yet responded.
