As of 5pm today, DOH confirms info on their tracking website that 2147 individuals have been tested for #COVID19, says figure is expected to rise. Dr. @EdselSalvana meanwhile says the TOTAL number of tests done is 11466 (not individuals).

What accounts for the discrepancy is unclear. Hindi lang ba updated ang numero ng DOH? (Bakit?) Is each individual tested an average of 5 times?

I have to point out that figures released by other countries usually reflect total number of tested individuals (not total number of tests) because it provides a better picture of what’s going on.

Based on DOH data, we are testing around 200 patients a day for COVID19, a total of 2147 as of March 26. Meanwhile, our neighbors have tested in greater numbers: Vietnam 30548, Thailand 10343, Malaysia 21855, Singapore 39000. These are countries with smaller populations than us.
Before anyone says these are richer countries than the Philippines, we have a higher GDP per capita than Vietnam (2017 data), which has done 14 times (!) more tests than us. This is not about resources but the sound and timely allocation of those resources.
It’s been 56 days since the first #COVID19 positive case in the Philippines, also the day the World Health Organization declared a global health emergency. It’s been 15 days since the WHO declared corona virus a pandemic.

COVID-19 is now officially a pandemic. Here are some important things to remember.

On an individual level, minimize the risk of getting sick:
1. Wash your hands with soap & water properly and frequently.
2. If that’s unavailable, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
3. Practice coughing etiquette. Use a disposable tissue or cough/sneeze into your elbow rather than hand.
4. Try to boost your immune system. Get enough rest.
As part of a community, we should try and slow down the spread of the virus and not overburden our healthcare system:

1. Practice social distancing. Avoid unnecessary travel.
2. If you have mild symptoms but are not critically ill, stay at home.

A few days ago, we made arrangements with my husband’s sister to have their travelling mom live with us for a bit during the quarantine period immediately after her arrival. My mother in law “officially” lived with my sister in law. And the latter has an immunocompromised child.
My MIL left the country to go to France in mid January this year. She usually arranges this type of trip yearly to be with her retired sisters who live there. This year they planned to go to a pacific island with a group in early March.

Arrived at a clearer view regarding what’s needed to enable nursing workforce expansion whilst maintaining standrards, and ensuring safety as best we can. 2/
First there are set of principles that must apply, regardless of solution or model adopted:
- students are students
- if they become workforce it must be their choice
- work must be outside/separated from their role as students
- they must be paid & have employment rights.

This is the key terrifying graph from the latest @imperialcollege #covidー19uk modelling. The red line right at the bottom is the max number of ICU beds. Note, that we've been on the "do nothing" upper black line trajectory until pretty much today
This is what exponential growth looks like. A rocket taking off. So much was fudged & obfuscated today, but Johnson did say we have entered the "acceleration" period. Notice how on the graph, we are still safely under the red line right now...
Vital interventions that could have been taken have not been taken. Look at the curve. Actions matter. But mass events - @stereophonics concerts! - were held this w'end because of lack of govt leadership. It has to be held to account & today's press conference was v worrying eg

All this hold-the-European-Parliament-plenary-or-not due to #COVIDー19 stuff is rather ridiculous.

Here is a systematic way of how to look at it.
There are 3 options:
1️⃣ don't hold next week's EP plenary at all
2️⃣ hold the EP plenary in Brussels instead of Strasbourg (as Sassoli has now decided)
3️⃣ hold the EP plenary in Strasbourg
If you go for 1️⃣, you are then in a situation where you essentially close down the EP's work. If MEPs cannot attend a plenary, can they then be asked to travel to the EP for any other things (committees, group meetings etc.)? Probably not.
