We're at the beginning stages of a surge in #COVID19 cases. That’s why we’ve spent the last several weeks preparing for how to protect and care for all our residents, especially our homeless population.
Here is a breakdown of the over 1,000 beds for homeless individuals we've added so far. ⬇️
We are repurposing a dormitory at @Suffolk_U to provide at least 172 beds, to help reduce congestion and increase social distancing in our existing shelters.

Another 70 beds are available at 1515 Comm Ave at the site of a former long-term acute care hospital in #Brighton.
These are in addition to the 55 isolation beds we created in the #SouthEnd near our shelters.

We've been working with the State on Newton Pavilion, formerly at Boston Medical Center (@The_BMC), and hope it will be ready to open next week. Capacity = 250 beds for medical care.
We are making swift progress with our partners to open the BCEC Medical Center, which will include:

▪️1,000 total beds (500 for homeless patients, 500 for other patients)
▪️6 acute care suites
▪️a physical therapy suite
▪️52 nurses stations and 48 bathroom facilities.
@PartnersNews is looking for staffing support for the BCEC Medical Center. Providers interested in signing up can go to partners.org/bostonhope. 🏥🩺
In addition, all of our existing shelters remain OPEN. People in need of homeless services should go to one of these shelters first. Our @HealthyBoston staff will screen individuals and determine where they should go to make sure they are getting the care they need.
