Effective today, we are declaring a Public Health Emergency in the @CityofBoston.
The work to make this decision began last week, as part of our planning to support students who are out of school. But it also goes beyond that, to the larger situation at hand.
Declaring a Public Health Emergency will enable us to deploy all the resources and personnel necessary to meet the needs of the moment. And it will authorize us to issue additional directives as the situation develops.
It will facilitate coordination across all City agencies including @HealthyBoston. Just as important, it will support increased cooperation and coordination with Boston’s hospitals and healthcare providers.
And it will assist us in seeking additional resources and support from the state and federal governments.
