2/ This is not about the pandemic. Yet it shows us that nothing’s more important than our health. Money included.

But money shouldn’t be another thing to worry about. Right now we need it to be exactly where it’s needed, when it’s needed.

3/ Here’s Q1 in full 👇

⚡️25% of transfers now get to their destination in less than 20 seconds (up +1.5% from last Q).

This was mainly due to the roll out of instant payments to Mexico for all transfers up to $1000USD; and significant improvements across Asian countries.

4/ ⚡️Specifically:

- 36% of transfers to Pakistan 🇵🇰
- 56% of transfers to Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
- 15% of transfers to Thailand 🇹🇭

Are now instant.

Oh. And 90% of transfers to Japan are now near-instant – i.e. in less than 60 seconds. 🇯🇵

5/ But it isn’t all good, speedwise.

A bug that failed to account for daylight savings caused the accuracy for our estimations to decline. Only this time, transfers were being delivered earlier than what we expected. 🤷‍♂️

6/ 💸 Average price is marginally down to 0.74%, as we significantly lowered fees to send money to Asian countries, namely to PHP 🇵🇭, IDR 🇮🇩, MYR 🇲🇾 , PKR 🇵🇰.

In ZAR 🇿🇦 and JPY 🇯🇵 we also dropped prices on average by 16 and 24%, respectively.

7/ 📲 Convenience:

Ni hao to those sending money to 🇨🇳 👋

This Q, we’ve teamed up with @Alipay to make it easier and cheaper to send yuan from 17 currencies.

8/ Direct debits around the 🌎

From last Q’s beta in Europe, we’ve now rolled out the feature to all of our customers.

So whether you’re still paying that one phone bill back home, or a trail of bills in multiple countries, you can connect to your one TransferWise account.

9/ Planning ahead:

We’ve started moving Belgian customers to our Belgian license; and we’ll soon do the same to all EEA customers.

This is to ensure our customers have a seamless experience using TransferWise, regardless of Brexit.

10/ Open banking:UK customers can now connect their TransferWise account to their bank and other financial services.

So you can check all of your money moves from other personal finance apps like @saltedge

11/ We’re faster at solving our customer issues – 61% now within 24hours.

How?
- 🇯🇵 customers can now get verified online versus a process that required waiting for snail mail;
- chat support trial in 🇺🇸 - something we’ll roll out more broadly in Q2.

14/ More mission, in more places. Say 👋 to:
+ Zambian kwacha 🇿🇲 - the 57th currency on TransferWise and the 11th African currency.
+ Colombian pesos 🇨🇴 – again and renewed with a better experience;

15/ Olá 🇵🇹

Our integration with @Activo_Bank has brought fast, cheap and transparent transfers to a Portuguese bank.

Fun fact: Activo’s is the first bank to integrate with us to build our comparison table into their app. 👀 If only more banks were this transparent.

16/ ⚙️ Servers are surviving the growth. Better than ever, now that 98% of ~320 services have been migrated to kubernetes and Amazon AWS.

17/ 👮‍♀️ We’ve increased our capacity of ID reviews by 50% so that new customers get started on TransferWise faster.

18/ Did I mention that we’re very much hiring? We have 148 roles open in London, Tallinn, Budapest, Singapore, NYC and we’re onboarding joiners remotely for now.
