When we started 9 years ago in my kitchen, I couldn’t fathom how much progress we could make with 2000 people.

Now I can share a glimpse of the impact we’ve had in Oct-Dec for our 6 million users.

2/ Our mission is making money work without borders. It needs to get

to use your money. Wherever you are.
To pay, to get paid.

3/ Instant transfers at 23% ⚡

Meaning it takes less than 20 seconds (!) for money to get to the recipient’s bank account.

👎 🇮🇳 Some instant to India slowed down to multiple minutes
👍 🇲🇽 Mexico is a new instant destination

4/ At the same time, it’s getting faster across our network 🚄

44% of transfers arrive in less than 1 hour
77% in less than 24h

5/ We couldn’t reduce price in Q4💰

Accepting ACH got more expensive in the US; and so did sending money from cards in EUR, USD, DKK. Average fees are now at 0.75%

We (obviously) don’t like the higher cost of ACH and cards in the US, so we built a workaround. Next slide!

6/ Now you can use @TransferWise directly from your bank’s app 🇺🇸

@StanfordFCU and Novo became the cheapest banks to make international wires in the US. Wait, cheaper than using the @TransferWise app? 🤯

7/ EQ bank became the *best* bank for international wires in Canada 🇨🇦🔥

8/ More countries and currencies 🌍

🇲🇾 Launched in Malaysia and _immediately_ became the cheapest option for sending money from the country.

🇧🇼 Botswana pula’s our 56th currency live

9/ @TransferWise debit cards launched in Singapore 🇸🇬💳

(BTW we have 130 people in our SG office and 20+ open roles!)

10/ Borderless gets account numbers in Belgium and Poland 🇵🇱

We added PLN to your list of local account numbers (next to US, UK, AU, NZ, EUR)

We are migrating your Euro IBANs from DE to a much faster BE integration.

11/ Easier to receive money 💳

🇷🇺 In addition to bank accounts, you can send money to MC or Visa card numbers. Popular in Eastern Europe.

🇮🇩 In Asia, we’ve brought 150m wallet holders into the TransferWise network across Indonesia, Malaysia and 6 wallet operators.

12/ Direct debits in UK and Eurozone 🇪🇺🇬🇧

Pay your rent, utilities, phone bills directly from your borderless account.

13/ … and supporting merchants via @goCardless 🤝

GoCardless customers can collect recurring overseas payments at the real exchange rate in GBP, USD, EUR, SEK, DKK, CAD, AUD and NZD — all powered by @TransferWise.

14/ Support is getting faster 📞

But it is hard for all support teams to keep up with our growth, the 600,000 calls and emails we get per quarter.

15/ Document verification got smarter 👮‍♀️

We’re now checking ID documents in app for blurriness and other simpler issues, which typically cause delays in onboarding new customers.

16/ Transparency as a Service 🧐

1. Banks make an effort to hide their fees in exchange rates.
2. We’ve reverse engineered the markups and built a comparison site.
3. Now the API and data are free to use in your own apps.

17/ Uptime 🛠️

All of @TransferWise is coded into about 300 independent services, which have to get along to give a smooth user experience. About 200 code releases every day make it trickier.

Last quarter 99.6% was the functional uptime - users were able to make transfers.

18/ Join us 👨‍👨‍👧‍👦

We have lots to do on our mission and we need help. 345 open roles currently in 13 locations around the globe.
