VITAMIN C & COVID-19: there is a collection of worthy published studies that have demonstrated the value of IV Vitamin C for pulmonary sepsis of ARDS, which is a deadly disease. These reports go back decades.
Chinese doctors have been reporting this for weeks related to COID-19. The Orthomolecular Medicine Society has been reporting this information for years. The information has been reported in respected medical journals like JAMA (Dr. Fawell).
So a few weeks ago I attended a tele-meeting put on by Hilo Hospital in Hilo, HI (lots of department heads) where one of the prominent hospital internists pontificated about hand washing, distancing, & folly of taking vitamins (standard orthodox pap).
I asked his opinion about concern for surface contamination & paper money and he made a joke that was belittling. I noted the body of research about IV Vitamin C, the Shanghai Protocol, & pulmonary sepsis. He became enraged & called me, in front of the gathered staff, “Dr. BS”.
The medical profession class is a haven for highly educated and extremely intelligent people. Yet there is something about orthodoxy & dogma that enables ignorant extroverts in this class to accede to & holier-than-thou leadership roles.
There is no more glaring failure of medical truths suppressed by orthodoxy than the incorrect nutritional dogma taught to medical students & doctors since 1960’s about theories of arterial disease, the cholesterol hypothesis, & carbohydrate based nutrition.
Our medical leaders’ pontifications about “proper nutrition” overlooked profound pathologic dynamics of insulin resistance fostering obesity, diabetes, & early death epidemics. It was not AMA who took a stand against sugar water treats promoted to youths, but a New York mayor!
Oh what tangled social schemes we weave when we rely on medical guild experts indoctrinated in untouchable shibboleths, which ostensibly serve to bond & protect members of these guilds.
When I began studying medicine 56 years ago, I was told by insiders that medicine was a conservative institution and that it generally takes “20 years” for old concepts to be pushed aside for the new. I have not yet noted a change in velocity of that phenomenon.
