PS/ Because the Washington Post has not figured out yet how to post stories without a paywall *in a way where you can find the story that a tweet is telling you exists behind the link*, I've no more information on this beyond the Twitter headline by the Washington Post. Annoying!
PS2/ Questions, once this story is more widely reported: what does "ready" mean? Ready for clinical trials? Ready for partial deployment to frontline emergency responders? Ready for full deployment to the general public? How long does a process that could start in September take?
PS3/ Also, what kind of ridiculous ballparking is an 80% guess on the most important question to the *world* right now? I guess my point is, this is definitely major breaking news that will need to be discussed, but it could turn out to be more or less than it now appears to be.
PS4/ As someone who teaches journalism, my critique of this would be not only that the Washington Post needed to write a far clearer tweet on such an important topic, but that it needed a dedicated link to an article with a strong nut graph explaining what the hell this is about.
PS5/ All that said, I was thinking this morning that if ever the world was going to do something extraordinary on a timeline that could never previously have been imagined, it'd be to locate a vaccine for this global pandemic on a schedule much better than the usual 15-24 months.
