Something happened last night that is very on brand for 2020.

We had a huge rainstorm come through at about 3 am and I realized the bedroom window was open. I got up to shut it but was struggling to open the blinds.

Now, this set of blinds is broken. The string that opens them is super short and the mechanism that holds them up is broken. So I finally manage to raise them but then I had to hold the string in the teeth to keep them up so I could close the window.

Well, somehow, instead of closing, the window popped out (we have the kind that you can swing inwards so you can wash them more easily.) But when it popped out it knocked the screen out. The screen slid down on to the roof and caught on the solar panel.

I couldn’t leave the screen on the roof caught on the solar panel, so now I’m trying to lean out the window to grab the screen, holding the window open with my other hand, holding the string to the blinds in my teeth at 3 am during a downpour.

I get the screen, manage to put it back in place, put the window back in place, and lower the blinds, all without waking my sleeping husband. But now I’m soaked so I go and change and then lay back down with my little snuggle kitty.

Well, grouchy old Mr. Cat doesn’t like snuggle kitty. He waits until I’m almost asleep and then he attacks her from under the bed. BUT, she’s sleeping under my chin so he actually ATTACKS MY FACE. He scratches the 💩 out of my nose and upper lip...

...and then HE CAUGHT HIS CLAW ON MY LIP AND WAS HANGING OFF THE BED BY MY LIP.

I scream like I’ve been attacked (because I have) & wake up everyone in the house. So there I am, at 4 am, trying to explain to my bewildered family why my face is bloody & the carpet is wet.

And that, my friends, is 2020 in a nutshell.

And here’s the cast; broken blinds, snuggle kitty, grouchy kitty, and scratched face (after a shower this morning).

Mr. Cat apologized.

JUST KIDDING. He demanded lap space and I acquiesced.
