#Libya ๐ฑ๐พ: despite the global pandemic the battle for #Tripoli continues and even intensifies.
Today #GNA forces dealt another blow to #Haftar's #LNA, taking the coastal city of #Sabratha and several surrounding towns
#Libya ๐ฑ๐พ: with the securing of the entire coast west of #Tripoli the #GNA is now in a position to attack Watiyah Airbase, which could mean the end #Haftar's conquest on the capital
#Libya ๐ฑ๐พ: video os some of the heavy fighting around #Sabratha earlier today.
Both sides are completely disregarding the #coronavirus pandemic to continue the war
#Libya: besides #Sabratha the #GNA also took control of Sorman, al-Ajaylat, Aljmail, Riqdalin and Zelten. All located between #Tripoli and the Tunisian border
#Libya ๐ฑ๐พ: moment #GNA fighters took over the central square in #Sabratha today, pushing the #LNA out of the city

#Libya ๐ฑ๐พ: the Madkhalis are a group of pro-#Haftar salafists who are a strange addition to Haftar's so-called "secular anti-islamist" Operation Dignity
A very good summary of events that took place on the Syrian coast these past days.
Following coordinated attacks by pro-Assad insurrectionists, the interim government made the ill-adviced call for a general mobilization (1/2) syriadirect.org/blood-on-the-cโฆ
This was like the opening of Pandora's box, as many gunmen, not under the control of state institutions now saw their chance to settle scores with the Alawite community, which they held complicit in half a decade of brutal Assad regime rule (2)
The result was a major killing spree of hundreds of Alawite civilians as fighters went rampant around the Latakia and Tartous countryside
For the Assadist insurrectionist this was exactly the aim. Provoke sectarian violence, burn down the little reconcilitian that was there (3)
Very concerning to see the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs @CasparVeldkamp appeared at an event hosted by the notorious pro-Assad @SAF_NL. An organization which claims to fight for the rights of Syrian Christians, but which according to its own records never spoke up about the thousands of Syrians Christians which were abused, tortured, or murdered by the Assad regime.
It's concerning that @CasparVeldkamp fellow and party members appear at the event of this pro-Assad organization, because the encouraged participants to share information with them about developments in Syria. This makes the Dutch state susceptible and vulnerable to pro-Assad disinformation.
@CasparVeldkamp 'Assad or we burn the country' rings through to this very day.
And while before the Assadists used state power to repress their opponents they now use disinformation, disruption and violence to derail the transition and provoke violence between communities
I've just come back from #Venezuela ๐ป๐ช where I spent 2.5 weeks, witnessing the run-up to the presidential vote, and what was arguably the most outrageous election steal in the modern history of Latin America.
I'll share some thoughts below ๐งต
First off before going into the political situation I just wanted to stress how great it was to be reminded how easy it is to fall in love with Caracas, and how amazing the Venezuelan people are.
Someone I'd met briefly 7 years ago, would greet me again as if we were family.
I was never big about celebrating my birthday, so I figured I'll just arrive in Venezuela that day, do some work and let the day pass quietly, no big deal.
Well that wouldn't fly when I told my Venezuelan friends there. They insisted on celebrating, and even brought friends.
I just came back a trip around the resistance territories of southern Karenni state (Myanmar).
During my time I went to the frontlines, visited IDP camps in the jungles, stayed the night at an abandoned junta base, met resistance fighters, refugees and community leaders.
๐งต:
Karenni state (also known as Kayah state) as around the size of Qatar, which makes it the smallest of Myanmar's different states and regions.
Yet because of its proximity to the capital Naypyidaw (120 km) it is still a very strategic region.
After three years of anti-coup resistance and armed struggle around 90% of Karenni is under resistance control.
Karenni is divided into 7 townships: Loikaw (capital), Demoso, Hpruso, Bawlakhe, Hpasawng, Shadaw, Mese.
Seriously watch the original IDF video (re-uploaded minutes ago). At 1:48 the IDF spokesman literally said they found a single gun "just minutes ago", same room as where @TreyYingst walks through in his report. Yet Trey's report shows two extra guns placed in the exact spot
Although it doesn't disprove that the guns are from Hamas or that there are any guns in the hospital. It is a very clear sign that the IDF is moving guns around the hospital and places them in suspicious locations.
This puts everything they show about the hospital into question.
#Palestine ๐ต๐ธ BREAKING: AJE reports that Israeli forces have informed the staff of al-Shifa that they will storm the #Gaza hospital tonight.
#Palestine ๐ต๐ธ: multiple reports now that Israeli forces are INSIDE al-Shifa hospital in #Gaza city and are "carrying out operations" within the facility.
#Palestine ๐ต๐ธ: the #IDF has released footage of their troops supposedly dropping off medical supplies at al-Shifa hospital.
But everything that's important is missing here. Where are the patients? Where are they alleged #Hamas tunnels?
