Hello! My name is Nancy and I’m the Director of Communications at PED. Today I’m one of the PED volunteers delivering PPE to our school food service workers. Follow me on my 250 mile round trip today! #PEDdelivers#AllTogetherNM
Our day starts at the National Guard base to pick up supplies. The temptation to catch up with our co-workers is strong, but we stay socially distanced by waiting in our cars until it’s our turn to pick up allotted PPE for our routes. #PEDdelivers#AllTogetherNM
New Mexico has one of the highest childhood hunger rates in the nation. We never once considered closing schools without providing school meal continuity. During school closure, our schools are providing free breakfast & lunch to any child under 18 #PEDdelivers#AllTogetherNM
First delivery of the day to School of Dreams Academy in Los Lunas, NM.
Next stop: Dennis Chavez Elementary School in @BelenSchools. They’re doing a great job keeping families safe while picking up food. #PEDdelivers#AllTogetherNM
In Belen, boxes of gloves are wiped down before they bring them into the building. #PEDdelivers#AllTogetherNM
Mountainair, NM (population 900) has three positive #COVID19 cases. While schools are closed, they keep students fed by delivering meals along the bus routes. Today they fed 190 kids and were very happy to get restocks of disposable gloves! #PEDdelivers#AllTogetherNM
Last stop for me: Estancia! Melting snow = muddy roads and some kids were not able to come and meet the bus today to pick up their meals. Each day, we uncover new challenges but fortunately, we also work towards new, creative solutions. #PEDdelivers#AllTogetherNM
