BREAKING: Hospitals around the country to agree to loan ventilators to hot spots. FEMA to deliver.

This can be a platform for other resources— masks, gowns, shields, oxygen, personnel.
Everyone who is asking if FEMA can be trusted to deliver these vents I can only tell you what two Democratic governors I texted with have said.
Lots of cynical reaction to hospitals agreeing to make vents not in use available. I’m not surprised at the cynicism.

However, if you are aware of specific hospitals who do not have enough vents, please let me know ASAP & I will get on it.

With the country completely dependent on much more significant testing capability, something the equivalent of 8% additional national testing couldn’t find a home.

More troublesome, there was no method to allocate tests based upon who needed them the most. 3/

The discussion starts with the pre-conditions.

They contain the right elements but need to be more specific (how many cases, how many tests needed, how to pay for contact tracers, how much PPE). Clearer guidelines should hopefully follow from CDC. 2/
Next there are guidelines for individuals & employers.

What about public transportation. So many workplaces (eg, meatpacking) will not allow social distancing & create hotspots. Business travel between cities is concerning at this stage. Asymptomatic spread inevitable. 3/

BREAKING: NY reduces its infection rate below 1, a major milestone in the COVID-19 battle.

But what does that mean? I asked Bill Joy, one of the smartest people around when it comes to pandemics & Sun Co-founder.

He’s allowing me to share it here. 1/
The infection rate, or r, is simply the number of people each infected person infects. It makes an enormous difference.

With r of 2.3, after just 10 cycles, 1 person infects 4100 people. At 1.3, 1 person infects only 14 people. 2/
That reduction means hundreds of fewer hospitalizations & dozens fewer deaths.

This is why we launched the #StayHome campaign & states focused on isolation measures. 3/
