1. Deficient
2. Dependent
3. Independent
4. Interdependent Mindset

Deficient Mindset: This is someone who sees the problem only and nothing more.

Dependent Mindset: This is someone who sees the problem, knows the solution, but depends on someone else to take action

Independent Mindset: This is someone who sees the problem, knows the solution, but goes solo to the exclusion of everyone else to solve it.

The Interdependent Mindset : This is someone who sees the problem, knows the solution, makes his contribution and seeks collaboration.

Most people have a deficient mindset towards problems because they feel they will get no reward for it. Or because they do not think they have a solution to it.

Most pple who've a dependent mindset say they feel it is someone else's responsibility, so even if they could do something,they leave it for the person it is His job to do it. Like a man who believes it is his wifes role to cook,& though he can cook and has time, chooses not to.

Problem solving actually begins with the independent mindset. The reason people adopt it may range from Perfectionism or because other people are slow or because the situation is an emergency and leaves no time for consultation.

The reason for the interdpendent mindset is that Together Everyone Achieves More. And none of us is better than ALL of Us. The interdependent mindset understands that to achieve a goal, you need to employ every roll. All hands on Deck.

Each of these mindsets has their pros and cons. The deficient mindset eventually becomes the victim of his mindset, for when you don't care about anyone, everyone eventually ends up not caring about you.

This is why Martin Niemollers poem is instructive He wrote:
"1st they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out cos I was not a socialist. Then they came for d trade unionists,& I did not speak out 'cos I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews,&I did not...

Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me....

Hmmm..Thought provoking right?

The one who adopts a dependent mindset to every problem will battle with his conscience all his life. It may not be your duty, but what's wrong in turning off a running tap? It is our civic responsibility to rise to the occasion when the need arises in society.

...without insisting it is not our duty. If you don't solve problems out of duty, solve them out of responsibility.

Kevin Carter, the South African Pulitzer prize winner who took a picture of a malnourished dying child during the Sudan war was heavily criticized for his insensitivity in not going ahead to help the helpless child, even though he was not a caregiver etc

The independent mindset is a goal getter, He/She takes initiative, inspires others&is most effective in emergency situations. This person must however also know&correctly measure his limits so as not to be a victim/part of the problem he is trying2solve.

The unfortunate incident involving a man called Joseph Blankson underscores the inherent danger of not calculating your risk when applying the independent mindset. After rescuing 13 people, he didnt make it.

In conclusion, We have heard of Open minds and Closed Minds. Open minds is like a thoroughfare for anything, this leaves the individual confused most times and disoriented. Closed Minds is rigid and fixed and admits no views and hardly shifts grounds.

To mine your mind. You need to be MINDFUL. To be mindful, neither have an OPEN mind or a CLOSED mind but you need to maintain an ACTIVE MIND. An active mind, closes and opens when the need arises. It sifts information and is careful to pick and chose what it exposes itself to.

When your mind is mindful of the right information, you are like a person who always eats at a buffet every time. You take what you want in measured proportions and you always leave satisfied and fulfilled life.

Your mind is a pathway to a satisfied and fulfilled life. Be careful who you listen to, Know who to talk to and know when to think through.
