FIPA, ratified in 2014, was negotiated by Harper government. It was passed without a vote in Parliament. Fipa, which remains in place until 2045, was signed to ensure that China got a pipeline built from Alberta to BC, among other benefits.

Under Canada's FIPA, Huawei Canada — as an existing investor that already owns assets and has business relationships here — "can bring a claim at any time against Canada, for any kind of regulatory action."

The bottom line is this: @stephenharper signed away in secret Canada's national sovereignty for corporate profit. The rest of us working class folks, and our children, and even our children's children, will be paying for this for the next three decades.
