Most health care workers don't see themselves as special or heroes. They are everyday folks with families who do a job. This is how they put food on the table. Altruism and empathy are prerequisites for the job. Its a job that saves life. But it's a job nevertheless 1/n

Many are self effacing and bothered when words like gods are thrown. Because they are doing a job. They are equally distressed when expectations run high and the pedestal quickly makes way to a pit. To put this bereft of emotions 2/n

It's a job that they are trained to do and they live by doing it. They enter it knowing the demands the hours the impact on family life. And many would like society to treat them just as that ones doing a job..Don't treat them as gods or fallen angels. Give them the space and 3/n

Respect to do their jobs. Treat them as professionals - like sanitation workers barbers policemen no more no less - not martyrs not angels just professionals. Don't abuse their altruism don't expect them to take 5 rs for work that is worth much more. They don't need 4/n

Sympathy or praise. They do need professional respect
The ordinance on violence against health care workers is a good start. But its time that society starts looking at professionals as just that doing their job with responsibility and accountability sometimes behind call 5/n

of duty. Lowering the expectations and taking the emotions out may help both HCPs and the public come to a more rewarding relationship. Thank you GOI @PMOIndia for doing your job. We will continue to do ours..But thanks no thanks for the halo. They re just ordinary folks
