rebuffed his attempts at getting on the boat forcibly. That they two high officials from the Mysore Sircar had come to the southern shore and were waiting at the adishtAna of the purvAcArya in order to meet srimad AcharyaL. Srimad AcharyaL stepped out of the mutt to meet them and
started walking toward the adishtAnam. From the north there was the sound of a conch. Immediately srimad AcharyaL ignoring the officials at the adistaanam started rushing toward the river. He saw the avadoota vairAgi a jatAdAri with a conch all wet coming from the river. Seeing
Srimad AcharyaL he prostrated to Him. It appeared the vairAgi had swam across the river in spate. For sometime they were conversing in samskrutam. The content of the conversation is lost but it appeared that the guru of the vairAgi had sent him from the himAlayas to have a
darshana of srimad AcAryAL.
After this He ordered that the vairAgi be taken to the other side provided with food provide tokens of respect and then sent on his way. Only then He went to the adiSTanam to meet the officials from the Mysore Sircar. At the other side the vairAgi
refused the food offered and said that the purpose of his coming to sringeri had been achieved satisfactorily and that he was leaving with contentment #sringeri
