W4/D3: Today I was able to spend a long time outside playing games, talking to neighbors walking by and admiring my blooming Azalea bush. Looking to the natural world, I have a new life goal--grow up to be like my Azalea bush: fierce, fabulous, flirtatious and unapologetic.

W4/D4: Ode to Wanting a Different Now...
There is a portal that exists in the space between wanting a different now & lamenting the current moment. To remain open & available to what is, I had to be with the rain, cold & messiness. I wanted it to be warm, sunny & inviting...
There is a portal that exists in the space between wanting a different now & lamenting the current moment. To remain open & available to what is, I had to be with the rain, cold & messiness. I wanted it to be warm, sunny & inviting...
And there I was confronted with the unwanted reality. Stay inside and lament a desire for a different now? By accepting the situation, I put on my big girl pants, hoodie and coat to head out the door for an unknown adventure...
Unbeknownst to me, I was able to re-see the beauty in the rain. There gargantuan trees that guard my neighborhood and bust up the sidewalks so that we humans pay attention to cracks + terrain changes. I witnessed puddles forming and fleeing + birds beckoning treats from the land.
All of these delights hidden and locked away had I not radically accepted the portal that exists in the space between wanting a different now and lamenting the current moment.

W4/D6: Thinking about portals...I'm reminded of the red doors of a church in my neighborhood. Red doors were meant to symbolize sanctuary, refuge, and safety from physical and spiritual danger. Pittsburgh is an official sanctuary city. What is our responsibility to sanctuary?
The etymology of sanctuary means "place of refuge or protection"(1560s) or as "land set aside for wild plants or animals to breed and live" (1879). How might we grow into and embody stewardship? How might we carry on the lineage of loving all life?
