Chris deliberately used 'transition' to work rather than a resumption of work. It's hard to put a date on when that will be. There are a no. of factors to consider:
- people (cultures and training shifting)
- situational awareness
- planning & testing
- innovation

Q to Melanie: what are the issues CPA are facing?

We are seeing a lot of shifts, highly dependant on location globally. 97% of the org is now working from home. We're thinking about the long-term impact on org and on our customers.
Mindset: the challenge around morale - stresses in their personal lives. An appetite to use this as an opportunity for learning and growing.

A sentiment of 'we're all in it together'.

Priorities shifting within the organisations.
An extension of working hours. We're accommodating their working times. People are using their own initiative to achieve outcomes.

People are adjusting now. However, video can be more demanding than normal face-to-face interactions.
Dynamic thinking about how we move forward. How we can adapt.

We've worked very hard to create a transparent and open culture. Tone is vital throughout this.
Chris: There will invariably be a shift for people. It would be useful to have an interim stepping stone. How do we enable people to share challenges?

We've been able to be directive, but we've given fluidity - to allow people to priorities for themselves. We absolutely can retain this togetherness moving forward. Our people built these values. The decisionmaking framework is working #Quirkwebinar
Chris: There is a little sense of fatigue, from teams in Asia especially. How can you help managers with this?

Melanie: We have a robust and regularly ongoing Comms support. We have webinars on how to work from home. We have a wellbeing programme running right now. #QuirkWebinar
We have opportunities for additional development and training. We're seeing leadership appearing in all levels of our business. Our young new talent creating happy hours and storytelling. Simple things are creating these strong networks. #QuirkWebinar
Understanding a different matrix of organisational design:

A massive effort around transparent communication. An engaging and connecting Comms. Reworking schedules around family and care. It's important that people can 'switch off' and close off the day. #QuirkWebinar
It will be a very gradual return to work. And it will never be back to normal. We are looking at various, phased approaches to this. Dependant factors are childcare and elderly relatives. Parents everywhere are struggling with this. We all need to be aware of this #QuirkWebinar
Melanie: We're working on the basis that we will have a return to work at some stage. Compliance will be critical for our leaders to implement. #QuirkWebinar
Chris: We are fully expecting more spikes. Scenario planning is about creating agility within an organisation.

We Won't Stop Speaking Conference:

Share-of-Voice theory: out of 300 unicorns from last downturn, 90% of them spent on comms internally & with customers #QuirkWebinar
Who do you like to for inspiration now?

Melanie: Marketing has to be authentic, with an intention to support. Microsoft and the support they are offering to smaller organisations, to facilitate AI. They are doing it with grace and authenticity. Comms at grace roots #QuirkWebinar
Chris: Situational Awareness (SA)

A recent report shows 30% of all jobs in USA could be done from home. That could be a huge shift. Supportive architecture and the ramifications could be immense.

What's your view of what the future will hold?

#QuirkWebinar
Melanie: There will be a fill of new opportunities. Relationships built on shared values will be huge moving forward. Digital transformations will fast-track a new way of working; more flexibility, more agility, new roles. Working from home will be the new norm #QuirkWebinar
There will be more video, less travel. Offices will be redesigned, new layouts, wellbeing at the forefront. Leaders having the permission to be vulnerable. There will be a greater appreciation. Marketing will be purpose-based. Authenticity RE waste, excessive spend #QuirkWebinar
Seismic shifts in retail. A demand for faster innovation. A greater need for talent. Due to redundancies, there will be a fantastic talent pool. Thinking around organisational design and teams set up as squads. #QuirkWebinar
Chris on SA: Many organisations discover that they've got the right compass heading, but they're working from the wrong map. Teams can do information gathering, getting a better idea of the strategic landscape.

#QuirkWebinar
Melanie: There's a danger with weekdays and weekends blurring. The challenge of creating personal space now. Getting dressed and ready to work after you have your breakfast is so key. That 'commute' makes a big impact on your wellbeing.

#QuirkWebinar
We have a huge responsibility as leaders to trust our people. Also, it's vital that you block out the time to do something kind for yourself. Don't over-extend.

This has broken down the superficiality around how we present. It is breaking down. That's a great thing
#QuirkWebinar
Chris: Clean sheet thinking: How could we reset for the future?

We have people looking at our offerings for customers - we are challenging ourselves to deliver what they need now. Looking at investment now - what can we do differently? Change will be more dynamic

#QuirkWebinar
We want to change for the better. How can we come out of this strongly and deliver better for our customers and our people?

#QuirkWebinar
Chris: Diversity of Thinking works by inviting new people in. There's an increased appetite for a big shift.

How can we do this? If we wait to see where the pendulum lands, we will miss great opportunities. The time is ripe to take those risks for a better future #QuirkWebinar
